Classic Car Overview
For consignment, a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with a title verified 105,903 actual miles. This is a numbers matching and restored Corvette with a 427 under the hood.
Exterior
Its one of the never fail options for color choice and every time weve seen Butternut Yellow here at the mall, it catches more eyes than red! Perhaps the greatest attribute of the yellow is its ability to serve as a base for dramatic contrasts such as what we see with the fender gills, the split grille up front, and of course, the tires themselves. These are 70 series redline tires with an early 2023 date code, wrapped around 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels. Out back, the vented decklid is flanked by flying buttresses smoothly transitions to a subtle spoiler and the flat rear fascia presents sports car muscularity that is truly legendary, bolstered by the epic side pipes. Our LT-1 style hood is a stunner and wears 427 call outs proudly on their smooth rise. Overall, the body is in nice shape, but our intrepid photographer finds imperfections that include scuffs, chips, cracking, and a tape mark on a gill.
Interior
Our yellow Vette has black guts, beginning on the robust door panels which present very nicely and lead to clean vinyl bucket seats that look fresh. The black steering wheel is on a black column that tracks down to the black plastic surround of the gauges under a black dash pad. Get the theme here? The center stack houses five gauges, including a clock, and an AM/FM/Cassette radio followed by a row of lights indicating left and right lamps, then vent controls that include thumb wheels. Finally, we have the shifter and shift pattern diagram, just in case. The black carpet below it all is very nice and wears black carpeted mats with yellow Stingray embroidery. The carpet tracks back to the rear cargo area behind the seats where a set of speakers also resides.
Drivetrain
A spotless engine is found under the hood and it happens to be the numbers matching 427ci L36 V8, rated at an astounding 390 horsepower and fueled through a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. Behind it, the numbers matching Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission which takes the power and routes it to the heavy duty rear with 3.08 gears and Positraction with 1969 date stamping.
Undercarriage
Generally clean and dry conditions are found underneath along with a bright set of Bilsteins. With that said, we do note some fiberglass repairs on the drivers heel to board and battery well. The dual exhaust has a short trip to the side pipes and disc brakes are supplied to each of the four wheels. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and a half shafts, lateral struts, controls arms and transverse leaf springs out back.
Drive-Ability
The clean and comfortable interior begs you to find a longer route to where youre going, but we have a job to do, so our outing is short and sweet. The 427 provides remarkable power and the newer tires carry this sports car with straight tracking and confident turns. Functionally, we find the wipers, reverse lights, and clock dont work. We also sense a vacuum leak when the headlights are up. Beyond these things, all functions work as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
This Butternut Vette is ripe for harvesting. A clean numbers matching legend of a bygone era that still looks good today, and will look good 50 years from now, especially if maintained the way its previous steward has. Nows not the time to squash your dreams; get in on this GM bounty.
