Classic Car Overview

1969 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe On our showroom floor here at the Classic Auto Mall this green beauty, a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette. Beautiful lines topped off with excellent chrome for this year the real racing form was taking shape and a mere 53,630 title verified actual miles. Owned and enjoyed by the current consigner and a survivor it is retaining its shine, appeal and numbers matching status all the while looking fabulous. Always garage kept and a very original car sporting a single repaint that is ready to be used and shown. Stay tuned for amazement! Exterior Its 1969 and this Corvette is bathed in Fathom Green over the fiberglass moldings that make up the body. A few chips, scratches and paint defects are noted, but nothing to truly detract from the beauty of the design. This design utilizes some nice curves, has a retro throwback with the shark gills in the front quarter, and uses glorious chrome, (soon to go away!). That chrome leads the way with a V shaped front bumper and surrounding grille supports, all in good condition. Stingray...now one word...is showing up in badging just above the gills . Chrome window surrounds and a drivers side view mirror are there too and a blacked out stainless steel rocker covering emphasizes the exaggerated coke bottle design of the sensuously curved sides. A T top which has removable green fiberglass panels works flawlessly and shows no leaks. In back a vertical rear glass has the long flying buttress B pillars that gently land on the rear deck where the gas filler cap is in the very center. The back of the car leaves an impression too with the split chromed bumpers, round tail lights and dual exhaust exiting from the roll pan on each corner. 15-inch deep trim ringed rally wheels are on all 4 corners and all are wrapped with raised white letter Firestone Wide Oval rubber. Interior A wonderful compliment to the exterior Fathom Green, we offer up a clean Green vinyl covered interior. This neat Green first makes its appearance on the door panels. Neatly molded and sculpted with small striped Green broadcloth center panels the lock turn knobs, door actuator, and window crank are housed here. Slipping into the high back thin design buckets we have smooth Green bolsters and air vented tuck and roll knitted vinyl inserts. These chairs are in excellent condition, as is the center console with its padded armrest/storage lid, with the remainder of the console moving towards the dash in molded Green plastic to cover the hump. Also, here is the shift lever handbrake and ashtray surrounded in black plastic. Moving up from the console we have the radio, which is an aftermarket AM/FM unit. Also, 5 gauges are lined up above in a panel that monitors everything but your blood pressure, (as the brochure says!). A nice black rimmed rally steering wheel with a trio of satin spokes which come together in the center and mount up with the Green center tilt steering column. An angled dash houses dual deep inset round speedo and tach as well as eyeball vents, and a few simple pulls. Padded Green vinyl covers the dash and dash top and is all in excellent condition. Green carpeting is on the floors, and this wraps up a very clean presentation...dont become green with envy! Drivetrain A forward flip of the hood, and we see the numbers matching, original 427ci L68 V8 block making a tire shredding 400hp. This mill sports a 3 correct Holley 2-barrel carburetor on top of the correct aluminum intake manifold. A correct TH400 3-speed automatic transmission is on back and on back, an AW coded 3.08 heavy duty Positraction rear axle is on. All very clean and corrosion free with like new hoses, wiring and the nicety of power steering. Undercarriage Slight wear and patina are seen underneath, but overall, a solid rust free frame is looking great. All independent coil spring front suspension helps you navigate the turns properly and on the back, a fully independent suspension with frame anchored differential unit and transverse leaf springs keep the rear planted. Power disc brakes are all around and dual exhaust with FlowMaster mufflers works its way rearward to the round chrome tips and all is fine underneath on this 69. Drive-Ability I just adore these late 60s Vettes so I hopped into the thin high backs and it was off to the test track, (definitely one of the perks of this job!). Here this car has great acceleration, bias free panic stopping, and great handling with that complex suspension. All functions were operating up to snuff and it was a hoot to take a second lap with the T-tops out. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. A nice survivor if you will with a wonderfully preserved patina engine bay, clean interior and numbers matching 427ci V8. The green interior is definitely an eye catcher and with the splendid green exterior and peppering of chrome its 1969 again!
