1969 Chevrolet Caprice 2-Door Coupe 427 Cid / 390 hp - 4 Speed Manual

Extremely Rare - 1969 Chevrolet Caprice 2-door coupe with factory 4-speed manual transmission! This Caprice features a 427 Cid / 390 hp L36 motor producing 460 ft-lbs. of torque. Reportedly only 256 Caprices were built with the 427 Cid / 390 hp motor option and only a fraction of those cars were optioned with the 4-speed manual transmission and concealed headlights. This clean, original owner car was purchased on 12-5-1968 at Miller Chevrolet in Grand Haven Michigan.

The optional 3:55 Ratio Posi traction Rear Axle, power disc brakes, power steering and 4-speed on the floor tells you this car was designed for high performance. The 2-door coupe styling with optional 427 badging, dual exhaust and stylish concealed headlights further communicates this Caprice means business. The car is finished in Frost Green with Dark Green Landau top and medium green tufted vinyl interior. Chrome trim adorns the front and rear bumpers, rocker trim, window surrounds, and driver-side mirror. The optional G70x15 white stripe tires on 15 steel rims & factory covers dress this Caprice out well.

The optional Strato-Bucket Front seats and woodgrain trimmed center counsel that features the 4-speed manual hurst shifter really sets this Caprice apart from nearly all others in existence. Additional optional equipment includes rear window defroster, a Delco push-button AM radio, rear speaker and external antenna. Instrumentation includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, an analog steering wheel mounted tachometer and an analog clock. Additional analog gages for battery charging, engine temperature & oil pressure are located to the right of the shifter.

The five-digit odometer indicates 35,595 miles on its second time around. The transmission was replaced at around 101,000 miles and the engine was overhauled at around 105,000 miles. Additionally, in 1986 the front & rear bumpers were re-chromed, the entire vehicle was repainted, and the landau top was re-dyed.

In June of 2026, the entire car was completely checked over and all concerns addressed. Work completed in 2026 includes a new battery & terminal, new sway bar links, new suspension control arm bushings new air filter, complete oil service & chassis lube. Additional work completed in 2026 includes a complete engine tune up including new spark plugs, distributor cap & rotor, ignition condenser, contact set (points) & spark plug wires. Additional work completed included full alignment on all 4 wheels & centered the steering wheel.
