Classic Car Overview
1969 Chevrolet Caprice 4 Door Sport Sedan This exceptionally clean Caprice is a classy stunner that mixes 427 cubes of V8 power along with complete originality. Loaded to the hilt with options such as hideaway headlights, a factory tachometer, power windows and locks and a rear window defogger, someone back in 1969 not only wanted a little bit of the good life, but they wanted it to be able to kick ass at the drop of the throttle. So, not unlike the consigner, if youre looking for a cool classic thats road ready, show ready and just plain battle ready, its the perfect way to go to your local cruise in and turn some heads with this 93,996 title verified actual mile version of the 1969 Caprice sport sedan. Exterior The only difference between the Caprice sedan and this Caprice sport sedan is the lack of a B pillar. For this car its a sexy pillarless design with the same roofline for the back and body panels virtually the same. Four doors with nice gaps around the straight steel, and shiny body trimmings, which include a full length trim spear with red paint, and wheel well and rocker covering stainless all primped and polished, contrasting with the Garnet Red paint, which is near the deep end of the pool. There are a few areas of light spray along with inclusions and some minor cracking of the finish underneath. We also note some staining of the stainless rocker trim which should clean up with some elbow grease. In keeping with tradition, the trio of taillights has migrated into the rear bumper, which is shiny and mirror-like. Long hood and trunk panels make this an excellent boulevard cruiser with plenty of room to spare. All correct badging, and a beautiful grille with hideaway headlights, there are not many other Caprice examples that will be able to catch this one on the visual and attention to detail scale. Keeping this large and in charge skate grounded are nearly new 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels wrapped in staggered width blackwall rubber. Interior Very original and showroom sums it up! Black square panels with button centers for the door panels that have a horizontal streak of wood appliqu along with toggles in chrome for the power windows and locks, and all materials on these doors are straight as arrows. Slipping inside I can nearly smell the showroom with the gorgeous split back front bench and full rear bench, wrapped in perfect black cloth inserts with smooth black vinyl bolsters. Buttons and tuck and roll panels abound and add a bit of texture to the benches. Nearly perfect can describe the dash with crack free and padded black vinyl dash top, wonderful instrument panel with a factory tachometer, and another wood appliqu panel below housing the climate controls, and AM/FM/Cassette radio. The original steering wheel fronts this fine example of preservation and noted on the odometer is 93,996 original miles! There is no doubt, based on condition, that this car is truly that actual miles. Clean fluffy black carpet and clean tight black headliner finished off the beauty of an interior. Drivetrain Based on the previous areas described, you would expect nothing less than just perfection in the engine bay, and its really is there...Orange/Red GM painted block, intake and chrome valve covers, surrounded by supple hoses, and corrosive and rust free bolt ons throughout. As for the specs its a numbers matching 390hp 427ci V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, and the original and numbers matching TH400 3-speed automatic is bolted on the back. On the back for the axle is a 12-bolt 2.73 geared rear axle with added Positraction. Undercarriage The hits just keep on coming and showing some surface rust on the usual suspects. Everything else is all buttoned up with a slight patina for the solid frame, floor pans and rockers. New stainless mufflers are on for the dual exhaust and power disc brakes are upfront and power drums on back. Providing the luxury ride is an independent coil spring arrangement up front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar in the rear. Drive-Ability When one thinks of an Caprice you think of a family car, however this car is a refreshing retreat from that genre and is a beautiful family cruiser and boulevard bruiser. It did just that with great acceleration, smooth braking, and just a pleasure to drive with everything functional. A real head turner too, I could have put some serious miles on this car, but then I may have gotten a hand slapping and ass chewing. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Excellent, Pristine, Showroom, all capitalized for effect and to show that this car is really a wonderful example from 1969, and shows suburbia lifestyle with family, that you could still look good and go fast while living the life. You will not go wrong with this investment, and it is an investment at this condition. 166399C039245 1-Chevrolet 66-Caprice V8 39-4 Door Sport Sedan 9-1969 C-Southgate, CA Assy Plant 039245-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
