Classic Car Overview

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe
454 LS-7 Inspired Big Block 4-Speed Manual California Black Plate Car Rare GM Performance Parts 10069286 LS-7 Block

Collectible Motorcar of Atlanta is proud to offer this exceptionally well-preserved and highly documented 1969 Chevrolet Camaro - a true California black plate car restored with an incredible level of detail while retaining the soul and feel of a period-correct late-60s street machine.

Finished in timeless white over a beautifully restored blue bucket seat interior, this Camaro has the stance, presence, and mechanical pedigree that immediately separates it from the average first-generation build. Originally a California car that reportedly remained in the same family for decades, the body retains its original GM sheet metal and presents extremely well throughout with solid floors, clean body lines, excellent panel fitment, and a highly detailed undercarriage.

Inside, the blue deluxe-style interior remains true to the era with factory-style gauges, center console, woodgrain trim, Hurst-style 4-speed shifter, factory tach, and beautifully restored upholstery throughout. The interior has an incredibly authentic feel that complements the cars old-school big block personality perfectly.

Under the hood sits the centerpiece of this build - an extremely rare and historically significant GM Performance Parts LS-7 based 454 utilizing casting number 10069286, widely regarded by Chevrolet performance enthusiasts as one of the strongest and most desirable Mark IV big block blocks ever produced.

The engine has been upgraded with genuine NOS 077 Winters Snowflake heads installed on the LS-7 assembly, further elevating both the rarity and collector significance of the drivetrain.

This particular 454 is a 1990 GM Performance Parts over-the-counter high-performance 4-bolt main block. According to long-standing GM Performance Parts history, these blocks were produced in extremely limited quantities and were reportedly restricted to one per customer, preventing large crate engine companies from purchasing inventory in bulk.

The story behind the legendary 10069286 block has become almost mythical among hardcore Chevrolet enthusiasts. In the late 1980s, GM Performance Parts engineers reportedly uncovered long-lost casting molds, engineering data, and development material tied to the original LS-7 454 program intended for the 1973 Corvette Stingray - an engine package that never officially reached production.

GM authorized a limited production run of approximately 700 updated LS-7 blocks. Engineers revised and strengthened the original design to address known weaknesses, ultimately creating what many consider the toughest production-based Mark IV big block Chevrolet ever cast.

Notable features of the 10069286 LS-7 block include:
Siamese cylinder bores
Three 1-inch coolant slots machined between cylinders for improved cooling
Massive 5/8-inch shanked main cap bolts
Reinforced high-strength casting designed for 1000+ horsepower applications
4-bolt main construction
CAT main bolts installed in this engine

Additional engine components include:
Genuine NOS 077 Winters Snowflake heads
Winters Snowflake intake manifold
Steel crankshaft
7/16 rod bolts
GM oil pan
Deep groove pulleys
Correct ignition components
Correct-style 427 Turbo-Jet air cleaner assembly

The engine bay presents exceptionally well with a highly factory-inspired appearance while still showcasing the serious performance pedigree underneath.

Power is transferred through a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission paired to a stout rear differential, giving the car an aggressive and authentic driving experience that feels exactly like a properly sorted late-60s big block Camaro should.

This Camaro is equally impressive underneath. The undercarriage remains highly detailed and structurally solid with clean floors, excellent frame rails, factory-style suspension components, dual exhaust, and a tidy trunk compartment complete with spare.

This is not simply another restored 1969 Camaro. It is a highly documented, historically inspired big block build centered around one of the rarest and most respected GM Performance Parts Mark IV castings ever produced - wrapped in one of the most iconic muscle car bodies of all time.

Real story behind BBC casting number 10069286
Yes this is a 1990 4 bolt main mark4 454 High performance block sold over the counter at gmpp. They were a 1 per person only. A crate engine outfit could not purchase one. In 1989 the gmpp guys where looking for new a headquarters out back of the GM. property. They went in an old building. And in a corner office that was Locked up they found what they thought to be lost forever casting molds ect... From the 1972 LS-7 454 that was suppose to come in 1973 stingray but didnt. They got the okay to cast 700 LS-7s ,they did some research and addressed the weaknesss of the original block 10069286 is what they came up with. The baddest toughest mk4 ever cast only one rated for 1000 plus HP, only one with Siamese cylinders with 3 1 slots machined between cylinders for coolant flow, only one w/ 5/8 shanked main cap bolts, When they were done R and D came and took there modified mold and formulas for research and the new generation 5 and 6 eng. Are based off of 10069286 which kind of makes it the grandfather of the new 572 crate motor.
