This is a modern supercar that merely looks like a 1969 Camaro SS. Its so incredible that looking at pictures is insufficient to capture the quality and attention to detail that make it one of the coolest restomod machines weve ever featured at Streetside. From the beautifully rendered sheetmetal to the spectacular interior to the LS-based drivetrain, this is a Camaro that really does do it all and doesnt even break a sweat while doing it. Every square inch of the body was smoothed, sanded, and aligned to look far better than any factory-built Camaro youve seen. The stunning black paint shimmers in the sunlight, the gaps are very good, and the overall execution is a high-tech look to an old favorite. Slick white hockey-stick vinyl decal stripes were added and then cleared over to retain that traditional Camaro flavor, and nothings cooler than a cowl-induction hood up front and a ducktail out back to accentuate the 1969s link to the past. Its retained all its proper badges and side-marker lights, and if you see that SS grille in your rear-view mirror or the 396 badges on the fenders, its probably best to just move aside and enjoy the view. Bright chrome bumpers, rocker panel trim, and wheel arch moldings help provide a shiny contrast to the deep luster of the black finish, making this 69 glisten that much more. Theres no doubt this one can be shown with pride. The handsome black interior continues the monochromatic theme without losing track of the past. High-back vinyl buckets are supportive and well-bolstered for the kind of driving youre going to do in this car, and a factory-style center console adorned with wood applique was planted between them to house the shifter for the Tremec 6-speed manual underneath. The dash is neatly finished with wood applique on the bezel and houses a factory speedometer and tachometer ahead of the driver in the main gauge pods. Theres a powerful Vintage A/C system that incorporates the Astro Ventilation vents and factory controls, and the large diameter wood-rimmed steering wheel is an aftermarket unit that works perfectly inside the updated cabin. The black carpets are plush, the headliner is taut, and the door panels are factory-style units that are in excellent shape as well. Even more remarkable is the custom rear seat area which will actually hold adults without too much complaining and the trunk is spacious and finished with a reproduction mat, housing a bias-ply spare tire and jack system. The engine is a 6.2 liter LS3 GM Performance crate motor (installed in 2017) thats been augmented with several upgrades like an ASA cam, a Holley 660CFM carburetor, and upgraded exhaust system that put it a rating of 540 horsepower. Its set into a beautifully finished engine bay thats as much old-school hot rod as 21st century tech, with hidden wiring and plumbing and a smoothed firewall as a backdrop. A serpentine belt drive system powers brand new accessories and theres a giant Ron Davis aluminum radiator up front keeping it cool under any conditions. The front suspension was completely disassembled, sand-blasted and powder-coated, and then every piece was replaced with either OEM equivalents or Energy Suspension replacements (along with fresh Bilstein shocks) so it feels more like a modern Corvette than a vintage F-body. Out back its all sorted too, with Bilstein shocks and a Moser 12-bolt rear-end with 3.73 posi-traction and 33-spline Moser axles, so you can hammer down on the gears with confidence. The floors were painted black and provide a spectacular background for the painted, polished, plated, and coated parts, including the custom X-pipe, 3-inch dual Magnaflow exhaust system. Power front disc brakes are mandatory when you have wheels thatll show them off, and those shiny American Racing Torque Thrusts wear 225/45/17 front and 245/45/17 rear Toyo performance radials to finish the sinister look.
