1969 Buick Gran Sport

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1969 Buick Gran Sport 400 for your consideration. This example is powered by a healthy Ram Air 400ci V8 motor that was rebuilt by the Heintz Brothers out of Statesville, NC. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a TH-400 automatic transmission and 10-bolt rear end with posi-traction. The entire car was restored in 2021 and remains in exceptional condition inside and out.



At the time of the restoration this example received new paint, chrome, emblems, and grille. The original sheet metal was used and the factory air conditioning was retained. Externally the vehicle wears a gorgeous coat of Burgundy Mist Metallic paint that is accented by a clean black vinyl roof. Inside this Gran Sport is a black interior with a bench seat in the front. Highlights include AM/FM radio, remote mirror, power steering, power brakes, tinted glass, and 14-inch Buick 5-spoke wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A White Letter tires.



The Buick Grand Sport became an unlikely muscle car as Buick has always been at the higher end luxury car market just behind Cadillac. That is why this model became a market all its own combining luxury and performance as the Muscle Car market heated up. It is a car that could be sold to a wide variety of buyers, families, and gear heads. The GS 400 was offered for both 1968 and 1969 model years. The 400 Cubic Inch standard horsepower was rated at 340 which most people agree was underrated from the factory. For 1969 a functioning ram-air induction was standard with a 4-barrel quadrajet and dual exhaust this car definitely got down the road.
