Full video featuring a test drive here >> https://youtu.be/RZbxJNMF55A Buick was often overlooked as an underrated powerhouse in the performance age of the muscle car era. With dominance throughout the GM coming from Pontiac and Chevrolet, Buick was hardly going to be left out of the excitement of delivering horsepower packed vehicles to hungry buyers! The sports car market was well attended to with Chevrolets Corvette, so most auto manufacturers turned their attention to the mid-size 2-door hardtop and convertible platform as the premiere platform to attact showroom buyers. By 1965, following the GTO, Buick launched the Gran Sport with small block engine choices, but quickly adapted newer, larger displacement V8s by 1968 with the 10.25:1 compression 400ci V8 (6.6L) which proved to be a solid pavement pounder delivering 340 horsepower and 440 lb. ft. of torque! A monster performance machine that could easily give any competitor a run for its money, literally! Buick used a special 1st gear ratio in their Super Turbine 400 automatic transmissions to ensure your off the line quickness would gain you the advantage and earn you some serious street credit! Offered here is a 1969 Buick GS400 Hardtop Coupe finished in factory code correct 55B- Turquoise Mist Poly with Black vinyl top and matching code 188- Black vinyl bucket seat interior! Powered by its original 400ci V8 Ram Air engine and Super Turbine 400 automatic transmission, this beautiful kept example has been wonderfully restored with originality in mind! Options are abundant to include factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power door locks (in-op), Delco All-Transistor AM/FM radio with working Stereo Tape System (8-track), rear seat speaker & power antenna, rear window defroster, remote driver mirror, trunk & glove box lamp, door edge guards, all tinted Soft-Ray glass, 14 styled steel wheels wrapped in raised white letter tires, and more! A stellar investment for many reasons, but genuinely a splendid driver and show worthy vehicle! This example was built in Wilmington, Delaware and sold new from Lash Buick-Cadillac based in Carlisle, PA to Leroy E. Thumma on November 15, 1968. We found this GS400 parked in an Arlington, Texas collection where it has been babied since January 2015. Previous owners had the original engine completely freshened at 84,695 miles with new camshaft, cam bearings, lifters & springs, timing chain, rear main seal, all new gaskets, and all completely detailed for shows! Today, the odometer shows only 86,397 miles. More recent servicing included a full air conditioning service with new compressor clutch, fresh engine oil/filter, new exhaust manifolds & gaskets, new master brake cylinder & wheel cylinders, and other routine maintenance items. It will complete with original owners manual, factory warranty booklet with Protect-O-Plate, accessory brochure, service manual, shop manual, and six 8-track tapes waiting in the glove box! The trunk houses a spare tire, jack, tools, cover, and trunk mat. Ready for immediate use and enjoyment, so act quickly at this price!
