This DBS was manufactured February 7, 1969 and delivered to Aston Martin Sales, Inc., the factory showroom on 52nd Street in New York City. As a North American export, this DBS is rare as only 181 of the 787 total DBS production were produced in Left-Hand Drive. For further rarity, this DBS was optioned with the ZF 5-speed manual gearbox as well as air conditioning, power windows, power assisted steering, Fiamm horns, rear lapbelts, headrests and radio. After initial use in Pennsylvania, this DBS was sold to Texas with documented ownerships by Maretta Oil Company, Honda of Midland, Larry Hertwell, and then residing with its long-term caretaker, Mr. P.E. Ridley of Mesquite, Texas. Mr. Ridley took exceptional care of this DBS for over 30 years keeping records of all servicing. A full engine-out rebuild was carried out in 2006-2008 by Richard Wright of Dallas, TX. The engine was uprated at this time to Weber carbs - Vantage higher horsepower specification. Over the past ten years, this DBS has been further exceptionally maintained regardless of use and received mechanical refreshening to all systems including fuel, ignition, electrical, braking and air conditioning. The DBS lower boxed rockers were recently replaced as preventative maintenance. In March of 2021, the DBS returned to Autosport Designs where the following service, maintenance and restoration have been performed: The suspension was updated with a Harvey Bailey handling kit, Telescopic Koni rear shock conversion, New front shocks, Tie-rods, Ball joints, Upper and lower control arm bushings and brake reaction mounts, 5 new wire wheels and new tires were installed and the car was corner balanced and aligned. The steering rack and power steering systems were removed and fully serviced. A full service maintenance to include all filters and fluids as well as spark plugs has been performed. The water pump was replaced, the radiator was rebuild and recored and new belts were installed. Additionally new door and door glass seals were installed, the DBS received a new Moto-Lita wood steering wheel, passenger side mirror period chrome mirror, Cibie yellow fog lights were supplied and installed and finally and to make sure occupants are kept comfortable, the AC system was serviced throughout. Sold, January of 2023 to its most recent collector ownership, this DBS has been maintained as needed, when needed to keep in its current superb condition. The DBS has been housed in a South Eastern British car collection with several other Astons and has only come back to market due to its being traded to Autosport Designs, Inc. towards another Aston from our inventory. Currently, all systems are working as they should and as originally intended by the factory when delivered new. Available with complete documentation and ownership history from new, factory books, tools, service records, factory build sheet and BMIHT Certificate. This DBS is most certainly one of the finest cared for examples of its type offered in todays market.
