At the heart of the GT500 KR lies a rebuilt and Matching numbers 428 cubic inch V8 engine which was only available in the later part of 1968.The Cobra jet spec 428 was a significant upgrade from the standard Police interceptor motor, as it was built to sustain more demand from clients as they raced down the strip. This engine delivers an impressive and extremely desirable 335 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Different to the original GT500 this engine features a unique intake manifold and Holley carburetor, allowing for airflow increase for performance. This particular GT500 KR is equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission, Power Disc rakes and Power Steering offering a smooth driving experience, while its upgraded suspension from a standard GT500 provides a better and stiffer handling and cornering capabilities.

Similar to the standard 500, the KR showcases a sleek and aggressive design, characterized by its long fiber hood and short rear deck. The vehicle is dressed in a special 1 of 43 painted in Yellow with the complete paint protected by a PPF . The exterior, a functional hood scoop, and dual exhausts, enhancing its sporty appeal. Inside, the GT500 KR offered a driver-focused cockpit with high-back bucket seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a sporty instrument panel.

This exceptional 1968 Shelby GT500 KR, originally built at the Metuchen assembly plant, was delivered to Ranking Ford Sales Ltd. in London, Ontario. A true testament to American muscle, this vehicle has undergone a comprehensive restoration to factory specifications, as verified by the accompanying Marti Report.

Now 15 years since its meticulous restoration, this GT500 KR stands as a prime example of Shelby craftsmanship and performance. It was part of an esteemed Ford Mustang collection based in New Brunswick, where it spent several years under the same ownership. This collector preserved the vehicle's integrity and value, showcasing it within a curated lineup of iconic Mustangs.

The collection was later acquired by another passionate collector in Montreal, who recognized the significance of this Shelby. Four years ago, the current owner purchased this remarkable vehicle, continuing its legacy with dedicated care. Throughout their ownership, no expense has been spared in routine servicing and maintenance, ensuring that this Shelby GT500 KR remains in peak condition and ready to deliver an exhilarating driving experience.

Produced in limited numbers, with around 1,053 units made, the GT500 KR quickly gained a reputation as a rare and sought after musclecar.
