Classic Car Overview

This vehicle is located at our Indianapolis facility - 2461 Reeves Rd #194, Plainfield, IN 46168

This 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 is a true survivor with an incredible story to match, finished in its original Acapulco Blue over black deluxe interior. Retaining all original paint and interior, the car presents with an honest, well-earned patina that perfectly reflects its history. It is equipped with desirable factory features including the upper and lower console, light convenience group with the signature dummy lights on the dash, and period-correct 1969 headrest seats that were swapped in years ago. Showing just over 13,000 original miles, this Mustang offers a rare blend of preservation and performance.

Under the hood sits a professionally built 1967 GT 390 V8, restored by AFS and upgraded with Edelbrock aluminum heads and intake, a 715 CFM 1969 Cobra Jet carburetor, and a hydraulic roller cam. Supporting components include Dougs thermal-coated headers, a full stainless exhaust system, aluminum radiator, factory-style fan shroud, and seven-blade fan. The result is a car that runs exceptionally strong while staying cool, with no overheating concerns dialed in for both cruising and performance.

The story behind this Mustang is just as compelling as its condition. Acquired from the second owners estate, the car was part of a father-and-son street racing duo in New York during the height of its underground scene. Originally purchased with just 7,600 miles, the pair would rotate race engines between cars, at one point installing a 427 side-oiler with a four-speed for weekend racing. After one final season in 1973, the car was parked with intentions to reinstall the original 390 but remained untouched in a garage for nearly 50 years until 2020.

Since its rediscovery, the car has been carefully refreshed while preserving its originality. It remains 100% rust-free with all original sheet metal. The front fenders and hood were removed, and the underside and engine bay were sandblasted and refinished with epoxy primer tinted to match the factory red oxide, along with a semi-gloss black engine compartment as original. Mechanically, it has received all new brake and fuel lines, a fully rebuilt front end, and a new Moser 9-inch rear end featuring a Detroit Truetrac differential, 3.50 gears, and 31-spline axles.

Theres nothing hidden here this Mustang is exactly what it appears to be: an honest, well-preserved, and thoughtfully upgraded example with a story you simply cant replicate. It runs strong, shows beautifully, and draws attention everywhere it goes, offering the perfect balance of originality, performance, and character.

Price does not include applicable tax, title, license, processing, and/or $240 documentation fees.
