Classic Car Overview
For consignment, a 1968 Dodge Charger hardtop showing 2,332 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. Lots of new parts here, (carburetor, electronic distributor, steering wheel, valve covers), but the originals come with the car if you want to go back to stock.
Exterior
Repainted 11 years ago to its original color, the Racing Green Metallic is now featured in a two stage, gleaming application. On this example, the vent-like character lines on the door are highlighted with black, the rocker panel is painted black, and the car features a tail stripe decal. The iconic feature, the rear view; quad round tail lights protrude like afterburners under the brow of a bezel, embedded in a black latch panel at the end of a long, flat decklid and flying buttresses. Ladies and gentlemen, the 1968 Dodge Charger. The face is no slouch either with headlight covers in perfect alignment with the grille and marker lights tucked under so as not to upstage. Foose wheels are wrapped in ZR rated tires with a mid 2024 date code but the original set comes with the car. Boar grain green vinyl is used for the roof of the car and its in great shape. The few inclusions include a bubble or indent in the paint, a scuff over a stripe, other small scratches or scuffs, and a tape mark on the chin.
Interior
Green on green is the way to go, and here it is in fully clean presentation beginning on the door panels with lined vinyl and pleated map pockets along with a fantastic Charger badge on each. The front bucket seats and rear bench have attractive light green inserts in the stylized splits of the darker vinyl and all are in beautiful condition. A wooden multi spoke steering wheel, smaller than the original, is in place ahead of the black instrument cluster with large gauges and small gauges offset to the steering column and along with chrome toggles, looks fantastic. Theres an AM radio in the center and a sea of dark green on the upper and lower dash. A striated center console includes a chrome shifter over green carpet with vintage style rubber mats. To top things off, a green headliner is high and tight and the plaid mat in the trunk covers fresh looking green paint on the stamped steel floor.
Drivetrain
A clean engine with some respectable upgrades greets us. Here we find a date-correct 383ci V8 with 330 horsepower and an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor over a Weiand intake between black Edelbrock valve covers. Behind it, a period-correct A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission from 1970, sending power to the 8 inch rear with 3.23 gears. Power brakes and power steering are present in this show ready engine bay.
Undercarriage
If you were expecting an equally clean underside, you wont be disappointed. Other than some very little residual oil on the pans, the bottom is clean and home to dual exhaust finding stock style mufflers after an H-pipe union, then out through square chrome tips. Power disc brakes and torsion bar suspension is found up front and power drums with leaf springs reside in the back.
Drive-Ability
Clean exterior, clean interior and for the trifecta, a great running car. Obvious power underfoot, straight tracking and nice turn in, and a stupendous, muscular sound from the glorious tail. The high beams are not working but thats hardly a deal breaker as the rest of the functions operate as they should! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Well keep our conclusion short as we know you want to get to the phone to drop a deposit on this car. This car reminds us we simply dont get enough 68 Chargers here at the mall.Theres no denying the great design here captured for one year in 1968.
