Classic Car Overview

Although General Motors may well have produced the first “muscle car” with its (corporate designated “A” body) Pontiac GTO in 1964, it was simultaneously blindsided by Ford Motor Co. with the debut of its Mustang that same year! Thus, the “Pony Car” was also born and at that point GM was at a loss in addressing what was an immediate market stroke of genius thanks to Lee Iacocca and the troops at FoMoCo!  Thus, after considerable scrambling and several fistfights with sister Pontiac Division, GM's flagship Chevrolet Division launched its (corporate designated “F” body) 1967 Camaro in the fall of 1966! It gave GM a well received “Pony Car” entry, to the point that certain race-minded Chevy Dealers immediately began modifying new Camaros for “street and strip” performance!

Nicknamed “The Hugger” for following model-run year 1968 allowed GM further expansion for its first generation Chevrolet Camaro. It was an enhanced continuation of first-year 1967 model wearing some notable changes such as one-piece curved side windows and additional front and rear side marker lamps AND most importantly, additional higher horsepower V-8 engine choices for the “street and strip crowd” that were visiting Chevrolet dealerships daily!

What you see here is a very meticulously maintained and sparingly driven rare '68 Super Sport/Rally Sport equipped Camaro in sporty Matador Red with black SS striping with rare red deluxe interior and black vinyl top. It is powered by the Mark IV 396 cubic inch 375 horsepower/415 ft. lbs. torque V-8 plus the additional options shown below:
