With all the hoopla surrounding the new Camaro 1LE, let's look back at the original.
The story of the ZL1 Camaro, fitted with that rarest of the rare, all-aluminum 427 big-block V-8, is one that has often been told: How only 69 were made, how they exploited the GM option-ordering system, and how they've become the Camaro guy's ultimate Camaro.
Classic Car Overview
This striking 1968 Camaro coupe was body-on restored over 15 years ago, however, looks like it was completed just yesterday. The paint finish is excellent and the sheet metal is laser straight. Every corner of the car received a refinish or upgrade to make this one very sorted out classic Camaro. A ZZ4 General Motors 350 cubic inch crate engine was installed that features aluminum cylinder heads, Holley carburetion and electronic ignition. The stout powerplant is connected to the proven Turbo 350 automatic transmission and 10-bolt rear axle. The Camaro rolls in style with its classic Chevrolet Rally wheels and B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires while power steering and power front disc brakes make driving a pleasure. An aluminum radiator with electric fan keeps things cool while the dual exhaust system makes all the right sounds. On the inside of the air-conditioned cabin is a fully redone interior that features bucket seats, custom upholstery, center console, tilt steering and a powerful CD stereo system. This classic American muscle car is immaculate inside and out, and is sure to impress around town, or at the next classic car show!
