With all the hoopla surrounding the new Camaro 1LE, let's look back at the original.
The story of the ZL1 Camaro, fitted with that rarest of the rare, all-aluminum 427 big-block V-8, is one that has often been told: How only 69 were made, how they exploited the GM option-ordering system, and how they've become the Camaro guy's ultimate Camaro.
Classic Car Overview
Next, we will look on the interior of this 68. On the inside its done in the Blue that complements the exterior beautifully. It does feature bucket seats, but is a console delete car and has the Hurst Shifter in the floor. Looking at the dash you can see the pad is in like new condition along with the gauges which are working. This car still has the factory style knobbed radio and you can see its get the old school feel with the Stuart Warner Oil and Temp Gauge. Youll also notice it has the Woodgrain accents that tie into the steering wheel. All the seat covers, the headliner, and the carpet appear to have been replaced and are still like new. In the trunk it all appears to be rock solid with great detail and has the Spare and Jack.
Finally, we will get to the heartbeat of this Chevrolet. Under the hood its powered by the 396 Big Block (casting # 3955272) Its set up with the GM Intake and Holley 700 Double Pump Carb. Its dressed in the stock style valve covers and breather with the 350 HP call outs. Everything in the engine bay has a beautiful detail and period correct feel with the correct firewall markings and hose clamps. For exhaust it has manifolds with dual pipes and the Flowmaster Cross Flow muffler. The 396 is mated to the Four Speed T10 Transmission and 10 Bolt Rear End. This Camaro does have Power Steering and Power Brakes with disc on the front. When you look under it you can see that it has had an impressive Rotisserie Restoration done. The floors are done in body color and all appear rock solid along with the frame and rockers. Youll also notice that gas tank has been replaced along with the fuel and brake lines. Under the front you can see the ball joints and bushings all appear to have been replaced.
