Classic Car Overview

1968 marked the second year of production for the now iconic First generation Camaro. Introduced the year before as GM’s answer to the Mustang and there entry into the pony car arena. Geared towards the new emerging market of what is now known as the baby boomers, this was the first time in history that a younger genre had actual buying power. With its fun advertising and multiple trim levels the Camaro was an instant success. This 68 is a great example of how the majority of first gen Camaros were equipped. The paint is very similar to the classic Matador red which is most likely the color you think of when you say Camaro. With the addition of the Crager wheels this 68 just keeps getting more and more authentic. Pop the hood and the numbers matching 327 looks like it was made to go right there. Not so big that there’s no room to work on it but not so small that it’s dwarfed by the engine bay. Though this one started life like the majority of the 68’s with a 2 barrel carb and 210 ponies which was really just a way to keep the insurance company’s off their back. Just like back in 1968 the car has had a few simple bolt ons giving it not only a boost in performance but a much throatier sound. Gone is the little 2 barrel which was replaced with a much bigger Holley 4 Barrel. Complimenting the carb is a high performance Edelbrock intake making the 327 a very suitable street machine. A set of headers which feed the dual exhaust finish off the performance upgrades. The bullet proof 2 speed power glide is still in use and shifts out just like it should. With the market in a great place for buyers this numbers matching 68 would make a great addition to anyone’s collection or just a fun car to drive and enjoy. Options on this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro include AM Radio, Seat Belts, Power Steering, Vinyl Interior, and Rally Wheels wrapped with Radial Tires.
