1968 Chevrolet C10 Long Bed Pickup

For consignment, a 1968 Chevrolet C10 long bed pickup truck with a title verified 106,531 actual miles. Owned by our consignor for 30 years and who early on replaced the 307ci V8 with a 350ci HO crate engine, enabling him to pull a motorcycle trailer and participate confidently in numerous rallies over the years.

Exterior
Considering our consignor did not paint the truck when he bought it, the paint is in generally excellent condition, the single stage Light Green obviously massaged and pampered over years and revealing a strong shine. The flat face with its stainless and white surround is the perfect contrast, a classic look with single headlights and a red bowtie in the center. Stainless flows from end to end with side molding that takes in the wheel openings and frames the tailgate where Chevrolet is depicted in white over a straight, chrome bumper and trailer hitch. Wide side mirrors are affixed to the doors and a tight, vinyl tonneau is snapped into place over a bed that is Rhino lined. 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels carry LT rated tires, white letters out and are the perfect shoes. Imperfections include blistering in several areas, paint chips and scratches, a slightly mismatched spray on rear fender, and a paint drip.

Interior
Simple black vinyl door cards lead to a patterned, pastel green cloth bench showing some very minor aging but fully intact and button tufted. A three spoke steering wheel leads to the plastic faced instrument cluster fronted by a tachometer on the column, and chrome trim bezels for a bit of flash. A black dash pad tops the green painted dash with AM/FM/Cassette radio, vent levers, and an added triple gauge pack, triple 12 volt outlet, and trailer brake in the central region of the dash. A textured rubber coating covers the floor and a Hurst shifter rises from it, accompanied by three pedals. Up top, stamped sheet metal is painted to match the exterior and the visors also blend.

Drivetrain
The roomy and clean engine bay houses a 350ci HO V8, rated at 330 horsepower and topped by an aluminum intake and Holley 4-barrel carburetor. Its mated to a Saginaw 3-speed manual transmission sending power to the 12 bolt rear axle. Headers are on board to begin the exhaust process.

Undercarriage
Generally clean and solid underneath with a few flaky rust spots noted on the inner rocker panels. The dual exhaust comes from the headers and runs wide, running through FlowMaster mufflers and exiting in front of each rear tire. Drum brakes are on all four wheels and suspension includes coil springs front and rear with swing arm included in back. While on the lift, we note some slight blistering on the drivers door bottom.

Drive-Ability
A comfortable and simple cabin provides the perfect perch for this pickup and we turn the key to unleash a healthy growl from the exhaust. Not too quiet, not too loud, just right. The truck tracks straight and provides very good power, but the brakes dont match the performance and the truck does not stop well. We sense a disc conversion in its future, but that will be up to you! Meanwhile, all functions operate as they should on this well sorted green long bed.
