This car has a great body. It is very solid with no body filler or rust and is straight. The fenders front and rear have the nice rolled wheel lip. The paint job is professionally completed and has no runs or overspray and shows well. There are a few small areas of dirt in the paint and a couple of small chips and light scratches from normal driving. There are two minor bubble spots in the paint.
All glass is in great condition and most pieces carry the VW log with no chips or cracks. The interior is in very good condition overall and upholstery is newer. The carpet, door panels, seats, headliner and seat belts are in excellent condition. All electronics, including original radio, work with the exception of the emergency blinker. The trunk is nice and clean and has been painted with the same quality as the rest of the vehicle. All weather stripping and trim are newer and in very good condition. As shown in the photos, the chrome is in very good condition with only minor pitting in a couple of spots.
The car was manufactured in October of 1966. The engine is clean and free of leaks and the 1500cc produces 53 HP. Engine fires up with a couple of pumps of the gas and immediately holds idle. The transmission is a standard 4 speed manual with no leaks and moves through all 4 gears and reverse with ease. The tires are new BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial white walls. The underside is solid and clean with no rust.
This classic is an entry level show car with a nice restoration.
The following is available to serious buyers: copy of certified inspection and appraisal report prepared in February 2018 by a Certified Member of the American Society of Certified Auto Appraisers as well as copies of the original owner’s manual and repair and service receipts.
