VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. Classic Car Overview

1967 Porsche 911 S TargaThis 1967 Porsche 911 S is one of just 483 examples produced for the first year of the Targas availability. It was built on March 1st of 1967 and originally finished in Polo Red with black leatherette upholstery. It rides on Dunlop tires and was originally ordered with tinted windshield and side glass. It was shipped to the United States and delivered new through Porsche of America (PoAC) in Teaneck, New Jersey. The original owner is recorded as the eventual 11-time U.S. rally champion John Buffum. His career included 117 national rally wins and also contested select European rallies, including the 1969 Monte Carlo Rally with a Porsche 911. The car was given a complete concours restoration in 2010 by Classic Showcase after which it entered a prestigious private sports car collection, before coming into the car of its current owner. It is believed that early in the cars existence, the original engine, numbered 961438, was replaced by a California-based Porsche dealer with a correct 901/02 911 S-specification unit. The engine current installed in the car falls within the documented engine-number range for 1967.
