Burt Reynolds may have been the star, but it was the black 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that stole the show. There's nothing like seeing that Starlight Black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am emerge from the back of the Bandit's truck.

Windy City Warriors

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

Introduced for 1967 along with its similar Camaro cousin, the Pontiac Firebird still had plenty of unique features to set itself apart. A bold chrome grille/bumper unit along with GTO-style taillights provided some styling pizzazz while under the hood you could have anything from an OHC straight six to a robust 400-cube V8. Coupe and convertible versions were offered in base, Sprint, 326 HO and 400 versions.

Here we have a real-deal 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 coupe. Restored back in 2000 then pampered, garaged and driven minimally since, the handsome bird is finished in Regimental Red with a Black vinyl top. Look closely and youll see a rock solid body and frame, along with even gaps and straight body panels. In addition to having its original, matching numbers engine, this bird also has a 4-speed manual gearbox as well as tons of options. Highlights include power steering, power front disc brakes, Rally II wheels, hood-mounted tach, custom interior, power windows, tilt steering wheel and woodtone rim sport steering wheel.

Under the factory dual-scooped hood, the original 400 V8 was fully rebuilt to stock specifications apart from an upgrade to a Ram Air III cam. The original 4-speed was replaced with a rebuilt 1967 M-20 upgraded with M-22 Rock Crusher wide-ratio gears that send the power to a 3:36 limited-slip rear end. That potent powertrain has only about 6,000 miles on it since its restoration. The Firebird runs great, handles well and is impressively tight.

Complete with supporting PHS documentation, broadcast sheet and an album with receipts and pictures of the restoration, this beautiful Firebird 400 is ready to provide years of enjoyment to its next fortunate owner. Please call Carroll Street Auto at (603) 627-5595 for further information or to schedule time to view this fantastic Firebird. Financing (up to 84 months) is offered through our approved lender, trades are considered and enclosed shipping can be arranged.
