1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am: The Star of "Smokey and the Bandit"

Burt Reynolds may have been the star, but it was the black 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that stole the show. There's nothing like seeing that Starlight Black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am emerge from the back of the Bandit's truck.

Windy City Warriors

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

I bought this car 14 years ago and had the car completely restored.  Every part of this car was redone from steering wheel, chrome, seat belts, to hubcaps… you name it we re-did it!  This is not a hot-rod but a true classic! The on-frame restoration included the car body, and removal of front & back hoods, fenders, doors, trunk, engine, complete interior, including all dash components.   Everything was gutted, sand blasted, repainted and of course we found no rust because it is a west coast, Southern California car. The Firebird has a new convertible glass top which sits in the trunk and has yet to installed.  At the end of 2008 my interior guy had an emergency move to Georgia and did not complete the interior, namely the top, and at the same time my wife and I were moving to Chicago for work. I put the car in storage with an expensive cover for protection. I will periodically start the car and it runs beautiful.  Probably have put on no more the 100 miles since I purchased the car. The engine was rebuild literally right before I bought the car and it also comes with a power top, with factory AC, which still needs to be hooked up. It does not have matching numbers and has a 350 cubic engine, I was planning eventually dropping a crate motor with AC.  Asking price is $42,000, just lowered to $38,000.
