Classic Car Overview

BGTs, personal favorites (have owned five) and this one (just in) seems like one of the best.

First of all, a 1967....not too many of these that aren't worn out, rusted, crashed, or patched. After all it is nearly sixty years old. Strong 5 main bearing engine, 65 psi oil pressure when warm, no smoke, rebuilt SU carbs, recently installed 5 speed transmission (alone, parts and labor, pushing $7,000), excellent floors and chassis, excellent body, mostly new chrome and trim, black interior with red piping.

Has been converted to negative ground and fitted with a new digital stereo, wire wheels, new oil cooler with Aeroquip lines, excellent dashboard, new carpets, excellent engine bay, same with wiring and electrics (including being upgraded to an alternator), has had recent suspension and brake work, runs exceptionally well.

A note on the 5 speed conversion.......have had this done to most of the older British cars I own, makes for a sensational difference.....all synchromesh, closer ratios, very strong, and (of course) the fifth gear making highway cruising a genuine pleasure..

On my own GT, we added a full roof sunroof for warm weather use and a powerful aftermarket heater for Winter. Hence using it all year 'round (other than in snow). And this is all work our company offers.

Think about it.....what was available from the UK in a GT car during the 1960s and 70. Jaguar E Type, Aston DB4,5,6, what else? Another virtue is the incredible flexibility of the basic car....sunroof and powerful add on heater is a starting point. And, in the case of my own car, a 2.8 liter Chevy V6, T5 five speed and an MGC 3.,08 final drive.....the result is powerful, flexible, and at 90 mph only turning 3,000 rpm.

May not have the sleek style of an E Type or the 007 excitement of an Aston.......but the GT is reliable, easy to fix, and quite stylish at a fraction of the price.
