Classic Car Overview

When Jaguar unveiled the E-Type at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show the automotive world stopped and stared. Its long sculpted bonnet compact cockpit and tapered tail presented a silhouette that looked not just new-but revolutionary. The E-Type wasnt all show either. Underneath its elegant bodywork was a competition-bred chassis developed from the Le Mans-winning D-Type featuring fully independent suspension four-wheel disc brakes and a lightweight semi-monocoque construction. The press and public alike were stunned by the performance and price point. Even Enzo Ferrari-never one to heap praise on a competitor-famously called it the most beautiful car ever made. Over the next decade the E-Type would evolve through three major series each adapting to changing regulations while trying to preserve the character that made the original so impactful.Often referred to by enthusiasts as a Series 1.25 this late-production E-Type represents a subtle but distinct chapter in the models evolution. While still officially considered a Series I these cars featured one notable visual change: open headlamps no longer hidden behind glass covers due to tightening U.S. regulations. However they retained the slim bumpers small grille opening toggle switches and triple SU carburetors that defined the early cars. The result is a unique and desirable blend of original design purity with just a hint of the changes to come. Produced only briefly before more comprehensive Series II updates were introduced these transitional examples offer collectors the charm of an early E-Type with the added intrigue of their limited production and subtle nuances. We are pleased to offer this 1967 Jaguar E-Type a lovely example of a late Series 1 example equipped with the 4.2-liter inline-six engine and left-hand drive configuration. According to its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate this car was dispatched from the factory on February 10 1967 and delivered to Jaguar Cars USA through the New York distributor for Jaguar Cars USA.Finished in its original color combination of Opalescent Maroon over black leather upholstery this E-Type reflects a refined and understated aesthetic. It was fully restored in 2005 by an enthusiastic owner with attention to authenticity and quality. The car remains wonderful condition belying the age of the restoration exhibiting careful use and maintenance. The paintwork remains in excellent condition with a deep glossy finish the rare color highlights the E-Types famous fluid lines. Bright work trim glass lighting and other exterior ancillaries match the standard of the paintwork consistent of a high-quality restoration. The car rides on chrome wire wheels wrapped in period-style radials giving it a proper stance that complements the long bonnet and signature Fixed Head Coupe profile.Inside the black leather upholstery has matured gracefully with age. The seats show gentle wear with a soft lived-in patina reminiscent of a well-loved leather chair in ones grandfathers study. This warm tactile quality is a testament to both the materials Jaguar used and the quality of the restoration work. Dash componentry such as toggle switches and Jaeger instrumentation remain correct and functional and the cabin overall reflects the elegant minimalism that defined mid-century British GT design.Under the clamshell bonnet lies Jaguars robust 4.2-liter inline-six an engine that needs little introduction. This FHC retains its matching numbers engine block and head as per the JDHT certificate. Recent servicing ensures the Jag purrs as it truly should; the engine wakes up effortlessly and drives just the same ready for use in vintage touring local show events or the blissful weekend drive. To ensure reliability and longevity a larger aluminum radiator has been installed to enhance engine cooling. The appearance of the engine bay matches the rest of the restoration: fantastic correct and display ready. This is a drivers E-Type benefiting from a high-quality restoration that has aged with distinction. It remains visually striking mechanically well-sorted and true to its original specification-delivering the raw analog driving experience that earned the E-Type its legendary status. Featuring its numbers-matching engine original color scheme and the soul that only time can impart this 1967 Fixed Head Coupe captures the essence of the early E-Type-still one of the most iconic and engaging sports cars ever built.
