Classic Car Overview

1967 Dodge A-108 Van For consignment, a 1967 Dodge A-108 van showing 65,728 miles, but the true miles are unknown. Dodge created compact vans three years after GM and Ford came out with theirs, each responding to market demand set in motion by the VW Transporter of the late 50s, touted as capable of turning on a dime, parking on dime, running on pennies. Exterior Matte Green covers the van and not in the modern stylish way of matte finishes, rather lets make it all one color kind of way! The coat is uneven and there are areas evident of body work including metal patches and filler, and others that will need bodywork. Some of the emblems are still in place and the rear windows on the barn doors are intact. Chrome bumpers could use a straightening and side pipes add a bit more chrome to the mix while the roof remains painted white. The single round headlights with bezels intact and the simple round taillights are somewhat distinctive and 15-inch Western wheels with spinners give the van a definite 70s van vibe. Overall, the exterior is in rough condition but since these are really uncommon vehicles, were happy to see them intact! Interior Green plastic inserts color the otherwise white painted door, offering a glimpse, even with the patina, of a feature that was probably with the van when new. Crank windows, a push out vent window, and an access panel are all part of the door. Gray cloth seats flank the tall engine cover with more dark green hints of originality. A simple black steering wheel leads to a basic horizontal instrument cluster with a motorcycle kick starter serving as the shifter. A faux fur covered box houses the AM/FM/Cassette radio and the rest of the dash is green with a heavy bit of patina. The floor is barren and black and may have had some welded repairs while the cargo area is lined in wood and diamond stitched panels with black felt on the floor. More motorcycle influence is seen by the saddle bag hanging on one of the barn doors. Drivetrain Under the engine cover in the cab is the 318ci V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor and an A727 3-speed automatic transmission sending power to the 8 3/4 rear axle. Undercarriage Driver quality conditions are met underneath with plenty of surface rust, some light residual oil, and some rust through on inner rocker panels, and some advanced surface rust on the pinch welds of the door bottoms. Leaf springs suspension is utilized front and rear and drum brakes are also at both ends. The dual exhaust flows into side pipes for a short journey to the terminus ahead of the rear wheels. Drive-Ability The large windshield gives you a movie screen view of the road and youre right there in front with that same cab forward feeling you get from VW buses. The 318 runs just fine and provides adequate power to the empty van which tracks straight and handles fine on our short loop. We note the horn, radio, speedometer and odometer are not working, but all other functions including lights operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Back in the day, this was purely a work truck as Dodge had offered a series of vans in prior years that had rows of seats, windows to the world, and the capability of camper conversion. But this box on wheels was for the working man and his supplies and probably became a groovy grocery getter at some point and is now open to interpretation and use. The van life is still very much a thing, with more sophisticated conversion supplies and vendors out there. But for your car builders, we think this would also make an excellent parts hauler. Its all up to the next owner! 1987069248 19-A108 Van 8-V8 7-Missouri Truck Assy Plant 069248-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
