With all the hoopla surrounding the new Camaro 1LE, let's look back at the original.
The story of the ZL1 Camaro, fitted with that rarest of the rare, all-aluminum 427 big-block V-8, is one that has often been told: How only 69 were made, how they exploited the GM option-ordering system, and how they've become the Camaro guy's ultimate Camaro.
Classic Car Overview

I am the second owner of this 1967 California / Arizona Camaro.
A beautiful full restoration was completed in 2007. The car has been driven less
than 2,700 miles since then. The restoration cost was over $60K including more
than 500-man hours of labor. The original 327 has been completely rebuilt with
new heads, new internals, Edelbrock 4-barrel carb, intake & cam. The stock
Power Glide was replaced with a freshly rebuilt TH 350 trans. The original A/C
was upgraded to ice cold Vintage Air. It has power steering with a recently
installed Lee Manufacturing 12:1 close ratio steering box. All bushings, bearings, ball joints &
springs were replaced. New power brakes with discs in front. Brand new full
interior including headliner, carpet, dash pad & steering wheel. New
alternator and battery. All gauges & lights work perfectly. New glass and
rubber throughout. New Stainless Steel gas tank, custom dual exhaust, radiator
and water pump. New 17” Aluminum Rally wheels with BFG G-Force Sport tires were
purchased and installed this year. The car also comes with a set of 15” Thrust
wheels on Firestone tires. The interior floors and under-body are coated in Lizard
Skin. The black lacquer paint with white rally stripes must be seen in person
to be truly appreciated. It’s like looking into a black mirror (no orange peel),
and the stripes cannot be felt anywhere on the car… not even under the hood.
This car is fun to drive & it turns heads everywhere it
goes. It’s always a crowd pleaser at car shows. This Camaro has zero rust and
every part was detailed, painted, polished or replaced during the restoration.
There is nothing hidden on this car. It is in better condition now than it was in
1967 when it came off the assembly line in California.
I have all receipts and photo documentation of the entire restoration process. I have owned this car for almost 20 years, but now it’s time for it to go to a new home.
