1967 Buick Skylark
Car for sale by REV Motorcars in Weaverville, North Carolina 28787
From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.
Classic Car Overview
On consignment by its owner is a "Best In Show" winning 1967 Buick Skylark Convertible. Of the just 6,319 Buick Skylark Convertibles ever manufactured, this car is one of the rarest. It has the highly desirable 340 CID V8 with a factory 4 barrel carburetor. What makes it ever further unusual is factory A/C (converted to r134a), factory cruise control, and factory power antenna. It also has standard factory power steering, power drum brakes and a power convertible top. The factory Dyna-Glide 2-speed transmission was upgraded to a 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic 350. The engine was rebuilt during the restoration process.
The car was completely restored to show quality roughly 10 years ago, and has been garage kept since and only driven on the nicest of days. Just about every part on the vehicle has been replaced or restored. The paint is in immaculate condition, as is the chrome and bright-work. It has the factory Rallye wheels, with a new set of double red striped tires. The factory grille was replaced with a Gran Sport replica, the factory grille will come with the car uninstalled. The rear fender skirts are also painted and will come with the car, the GS chrome fender strips were installed for a more sporty look.
The interior is in show quality condition as well, all trim pieces and upholstery are like new. The seats are upholstered in the factory style, with red cloth inserts. The steering wheel is a wooden non-original unit, leather wrapped professionally. The factory stereo has been upgraded to a modern "retro style" head unit, with aftermarket speakers.
The car has won Best In Show at multiple local and regional shows, and took home the "Best Buick" trophy at the 2019 Spring Auto Fair in Charlotte out of roughly 40 Buicks that were entered. The photos speak for themselves. The car is as nice in person as it appears in photographs. High resolution photographs can be sent upon request for greater detail. This car is cosmetically and mechanically 100% sound, runs and shows like it did the day it left the showroom floor. Any collector would be proud to own and show this beauty!
