Classic Car Overview

West Coast Classics are proud to present a superb and great daily driving example of this very rare indeed 1966 Triumph Herald Sports 1200 Series 4 speed manual Convertible in its very striking Royal Blue color paint with a Black interior and White soft top!Recently acquired from its long time southern California owner, with excellent service history in fabulous driving and cosmetic condition. Recent service history includes on 12/17/2024 at 96,488 miles electronic ignition installed, and oil pressure switch ($601.13); at 96,137 miles new battery ($313.15); at 95,326 miles new points and condensor and spark plugs, fuel filter, rear brake shoes, rear wheel cylinders, brake fluid, valve cover gasket, 4 new radial tires, oil filter, carburetor overhaul, tune up ($2,482.27); at 90,723 miles head gasket set, r&r cylinder head, complete valve job ($1,598.79); new master cylinder, fuel pump, ($1,141.94); at 85,735 miles r&r transmission, resurface flywheel ($1,209.45); at 85,694 miles new axle shaft U joint ($844.32); all records available. Obviously from viewing these service records it is obvious that at no time was any expense spared on this particular cars preventive maintenance and servicing and the car can boast all relatively new tires, complete valve job, master cylinder and brakes, differential, fuel pump, clutch and 4 speed transmission! This is obviously one rare and highly desirable and sentimentally popular classic British sports car! And this a completely rust free southern California always garaged example, which any enthusiast will confirm is extremely rare! The trunk, floor boards, rocker panels and all the typically rust prone areas are all completely solid and rust free - an obviously always garaged example that has survived intact! The original Royal Blue color paint is very striking along with the matching Black bucket seats interior with matching door panels and carpet, a lovely original steering wheel and original wood dashboard. The cars original White soft top, whilst still very functional and which still will protect the car in anything but the most incremental weather, please note does have a couple of small tears. The car also can boast its original wheels and its original spare wheel in its storage compartment in the trunk. The Triumph Herald Sports 1200 Series convertible is one now very rarely seen British classic. Conceived to replace the Standard Eight and Ten sedans, the renown Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti styled Herald with British engineering boasted considerable panache, and in 1966 was offered as a 2 Door Sedan or convertible, and the Herald range would prove to be the amongst the most successful small British sports cars of the 1960s. Using a separate chassis and drum brakes and all independent suspension, it was actually powerful by modernized versions of the old Standard engine. The larger 1147cc engine (70 cu in) was added in 1961 with a 1296cc engine (79 cu in) added in 1967. Production ended in 1971.Instruments were a single large speedometer, temperature and fuel gauges, a lockable glovebox and heater. Leather seats and a wood veneered dashboard were optional extras. Without a doubt this will prove to be one rare piece of British motoring history - a beautiful example of a true and completely rust free surviving and very striking and superbly maintained 1966 Triumph Sports 1200 Convertible, a great example for any Triumph enthusiast or simply any classic British sports car lover to enjoy today!
