1966 Shelby Cobra
Coupe Car for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina 28209
From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.

Classic Car Overview
1966 Shelby Cobra $55,995
JUST IN TIME FOR SUMMER CRUISING!! If you want respect on the street and for everyone to hear you coming from a mile away, look no further. With way too many top of the line parts and accessories, drive this 1966 Shelby Cobra replica and your life will be changed forever. The Shelby Cobra is a timeless classic that never goes out of style and everyone knows how fast, powerful, and loud they are. With a Ford 390 block bored and machined to a 427 cubic inch beast, power is at no shortage. The Petty blue with metallic silver racing stripes is a combination that you do not see much at all and will not be forgotten when you drive down the road. There is no reason to waste your time building your own Shelby Cobra replica and you’d spend substantially more building one of this quality. No expenses were spared, which you will see as ALL BUILD paperwork is included. You will not be disappointed when you’re shaking the ground at idle when sitting at any stoplight. The car is a head turner and there will be no shortage of pictures/videos taken no matter where your take it. There was absolutely NO EXPENSE spared in the build of this Cobra and the attention it gets is a testament to that.
This Shelby Cobra replica is a Lonestar Classics kit and was built by Lonestar Classics. If you do not know, Lonestar Classics kits are made for a taller driver, which makes for a more comfortable ride, whether you are the driver or passenger. All other kits are an extremely uncomfortable if you are over 5’9 and make for a tight fit. I am 6’2 and fit comfortably in the car and have no troubles getting in and out of the car. The car is a tribute to the 427 Cobra and has all of authentic vents, hood scoop, roll bar behind the driver’s seat, and other details that make everyone ask if it is actually a replica. There was not a detail missed on the build and that is clear to anyone. The Petty blue paint pops and looks so good that you wouldn’t know that it was sprayed on a fiberglass body. With less than 1,000 miles on the car since it was built, you are literally getting a brand new car without the years of waiting and headache of building your own. Whether you are looking at the exterior, interior, under the hood, or under the car, it is clear to see that the prep work was done with a meticulous approach, which resulted in an absolutely flawless car that will turn every head on the road.
The interior is put together right and no authentic details were missed there either. Low back leather bucket seats hug you when you buckle into the Crow Enterprizes five-point racing harness, which keep you securely fastened when you launch this rocket down the road. As you glide through the Ford Toploader four speed transmission (so tough it was the transmission used by NASCAR teams), you’ll glide through the gears using a Hurst Competition Plus shifter, while operating the authentic AC Cobra pedals, which are offset like the authentic Cobra. As you move through the gears, there are no issues putting the power to the ground as it’s transferred through the RAM racing clutch and pushed back to the Ford 9” rear end. All of the gauges are appropriately mounted on the stainless-steel dash, which is a much cleaner and racier look than the typical leather dash.
A Ford 390, which was machined to a monstrous 427 cubic inch power plant, fits perfectly under the forward titling hood. The motor was professionally machined and the machine specs are included along with ALL build paperwork. Mounted on top of this beast are twin four-barrel Holley Carburetors and the authentic oval air cleaner to ensure that the fuel and clean air are there when you say “GO!” All of this quality cranks out over 500HP and shakes the ground even at idle, as it courses through the headers and side pipes that keep with the authentic Shelby Cobra look. The engine is cooled by an oversized Griffin Racing radiator with a large rear mounted fan. The car has never once, even in the heat/humidity, ran over 200 degrees with this cooling system, even in bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic. As you would expect, when you put this kind of quality into the build, the car runs like a dream and is SCARY fast. All of that power is harnessed and slowed down by the red caliper Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners and the brand new Nitto radials wrapped around the vintage Shelby Cobra wheels.
The Cobra is titled as a 1966, which is rare since most replicas are titled in the year they are built. The luxury of it being titled as a 1966 is that in many states, like here in North Carolina, the car may not be subject to annual inspections and possible emissions requirements, so you can let the rumble and power flow without any restrictions.
This amazing Shelby Cobra cackles and rumbles like the real deal, however, you are able to drive it every day to show off how much of a bad ass machine it really is. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own the dream car of many and a piece of true American Muscle!!
