Classic Car Overview
This 1966 Porsche 912 is a Karmann-bodied coupe that was built in November 1965 and was sold new in Framingham, Massachusetts in April 1966. Originally finished in blue, the car has been repainted in red over a black interior and is powered by its numbers-matching 1,582cc flat-four. Additional equipment includes a five-speed manual gearbox, polished 15″ steel wheels, a modern Porsche stereo, and green-letter VDO gauges. The seller acquired the car out of Texas in 2018 and has since changed the oil and added approximately 1k miles. This 912 is now offered with Kardex paperwork and transferable New York registration.
The Karmann body tag and Kardex indicate that the car was delivered new in Golfblau (6603), and the color has been changed to red. The seller states that the car was refinished five years ago.
Polished 15″ ventilated steel wheels wear Porsche-crest center caps as well as 165-section Arizonian steel-belted radial tires.
The cabin was originally upholstered in brown leatherette, and it now features individual front bucket seats with black upholstery and perforated inserts over matching black carpeting and trim. The seller notes that the driver’s seatback has become less supportive. A modern Porsche stereo with a built-in screen, navigation, and satellite-radio connectivity has been mounted in the factory location.
A replacement four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of factory green-letter VDO instrumentation that includes a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows just under 99k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added during current ownership.
The 1,582cc flat-four was rated for 89 horsepower when new and is paired with a five-speed manual transaxle with a dogleg first gear. The oil has been changed during the seller’s ownership.
The engine-case stamping reads ☆743113☆ and matches the number shown on the Kardex below.
The included Kardex paperwork lists a completion date of November 29, 1965 and indicates that the car was sold in April 1966 in Massachusetts. Also listed are the original colors, powertrain numbers, and the following special equipment: antenna, outside mirror, wooden steering wheel.
