Classic Car Overview

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys Arizona event, 23 January 2026.
Offered Without Reserve $120,000 - $150,000 USD

  • Reported to be a mostly unrestored, survivor short-wheelbase Porsche 911
  • Offered from the private collection of Porsche Colorado Springs
  • Numbers-matching engine and gearbox, as confirmed by a copy of its Kardex
  • Consistent paint-meter readings indicate a factory-applied Irish Green finish
  • Comprehensive service by Porsche Colorado Springs in 2016, including a full engine rebuild
  • Accompanied by a Kardex copy, service records, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity

Treasured by generations of enthusiasts, unrestored survivor Porsches are among the most sought-after classic automobiles of any type, and the compelling, documented, short-wheelbase 911 Coupe offered here is a captivating example from this esteemed corner of the collector car world.

Wearing a lovely Irish Green finish that paint-meter readings indicate is likely to be factory applied, chassis 304192 completed production on 7 April 1966, and was sold new that October through Volkswagen-Pacific Inc. to Ms. Vanya Cates of Santa Ana, California, according to a copy of its original Kardex on file. It came equipped from the factory with the sought-after woodgrain dash treatment, black leatherette trim, a Webasto heater, Phoenix tires, and tinted glass all around, as confirmed by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity also on file.

Having clearly enjoyed a charmed life, the car was acquired in 2016 by Porsche Colorado Springs, Colorado (PCOS) for its private collection. Inspections by PCOS technicians confirmed the presence of the cars numbers-matching engine and gearbox as well as consistent, factory-level paint-meter readings across its bodywork. They also found that the engine had been rebuilt in the past to 2.4-liter specification, the front seat covers had been replaced, and a previous owner had installed an unusual single-piece CoCo Mat to protect the factory flooring.

The Porsche Classic-certified dealership then performed a comprehensive major service, removing the engine and transmission assembly to replace or update oil return tubes, chain guides, timing chains, connecting rod sleeves and bolts, oil hoses, main bearings, and engine gaskets. The crankshaft was checked for balance, camshafts polished, and carburetors reconditioned, while a new clutch assembly, belt, and oil thermostat were installed, and the transmission assembly resealed.

In preparation for this sale, PCOS conducted another inspection and refresh, which included installing a new fuel sending unit and tie rod ends, rebuilding the carburetors, flushing the brake system, and other fine-tuning tasks.

With its wonderfully preserved finishes, documentation, and recent attention by marque experts, this outstanding short-wheelbase 911 with a numbers-matching engine and gearbox will appeal to discerning Porsche collectors and enthusiasts on many levels.
