Convertible Car for sale in Sacramento, California 95821
Sacramento, CA 95821
It's hard to imagine that the Pontiac GTO might never have made it into production. Had it not been for a small group of managers at Pontiac who were also car enthusiasts and visionaries, the GTO might not have been.
The 1958 Mercury Super Marauder, a super rare, super fast classic car. The Super Marauder was the powerhouse that enabled the 1958 Mercury to become the first domestic vehicle to advertise a 400-horsepower engine.
Classic Car Overview
This stunning GTO was born at the Fremont assembly line, sold new at Keyes Pontiac in Palo Alto, and lived in Northern California until 1988. At that point, it was sold and transported to Illinois and began a multi-year restoration to put it in the condition you see now. Currently residing back in Northern California, this eye-catching vehicle stands out due to the meticulous nature of the rebuild.
This pristine muscle car comes equipped with the original 389 V-8 engine and two-speed ST-300 automatic transmission, both with less than 3000 miles since rebuild. Among the many desirable features are factory power steering and brakes.
The Starlight black paint and bodywork are mirror-smooth. The parchment interior, ivory trim, and white convertible top are nearly perfect. This car has a very rare headrest option with a reclining passenger seat. The glove box door features an autograph from famed Pontiac drag racer Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick.
The car has had some changes: the original carburetor was upgraded to a newer model. The original radiator was replaced with a four-core aftermarket one. The starter was replaced with a higher torque aftermarket piece. The hubcaps in some of the pictures were replaced with Rally I rims and rings. All the original removed parts have been retained and will be available with the car. There is also a passenger-side mirror that has not been added yet. The original black & yellow California license plates come with it, but it is registered with different plates.
This car would make a great addition to any collection, especially to a Pontiac or muscle car enthusiast. Beyond that, this vehicle is a fantastic driver. It has an under-dash a/c unit (added after these pictures were taken), new radial redline tires, and is in excellent mechanical condition.
There are hundreds of photographs, documents, and receipts detailing the restoration and history of this vehicle. This GTO is an incredible example of the American muscle car.
