Classic Car Overview
My father and I have owned this car since 1999. We purchased it from a private party in Laguna Hills, and it ran great. It has been our baby. It was my first car. It is a fun thing that my dad and I share.
It runs great.
These Thunderbirds have sequential blinkers, a thermometer type speedometer, and an airplane cockpit type of dash and gauges. Theyre awesome.
In 1999 and 2000, We replaced the radiator, had it professionally sandblasted and painted, and did a number of other minor tune up items (belts, had the carburetor rebuilt, etc). We have always prioritized the numbers matching approach, where the original is remodeled, rather than buying replacement. It was a daily driver for a couple years, starting in 2000. After that, it was a leisure car.
In 2017, we had it fully restored, and it became my daily driver again for a few years (I live very close to work). In 2021, I started a family and it became a leisure car again. Now it needs a new family to love it.
In 2025, we had the carburetor rebuilt again and the power window motors replaced with modern replacements.
We use a local Los Angeles/ Orange County shop for maintenance. They did the 2017 full restoration too. We can connect you.
The only things that I can remember that are modern replacement, (rather than fully restored original) are the seat covers (look completely original), the air conditioner, the stereo (has aux), the radiator, and the window motors. All of these non original things are made to look and feel like the original, with the intention of retaining the original look as much as possible.
The 2017 restoration includes a fully transferable warranty for engine and transmission.
Everything was redone in 2017, except for the paint and body, which was done in 2000.
