Classic Car Overview
289 V8 3-Speed Manual Vintage Air Recent Mechanical Updates
This 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe is a nicely upgraded driver that combines classic Mustang styling with V8 power and several practical improvements for comfortable cruising. Originally built as a six-cylinder Mustang, it has since been converted to a 289ci Ford V8 and retains a traditional 3-speed manual transmission with floor shifter.
The Mustang shows 93,470 miles on the odometer and has been driven sparingly under current ownership. The 289 was sourced as a used engine and is believed by the owner to have accumulated somewhere in the high-70,000 to 80,000-mile range, although its exact mileage cannot be verified.
A significant amount of recent mechanical work has been completed. The 3-speed manual transmission was rebuilt approximately 500 miles ago, with clutch/flywheel-related work performed at the same time. The engine recently received a complete tune-up and oil change, and the carburetor has been rebuilt.
Cooling has also been upgraded with a new aluminum radiator, flex fan, and oversized fan shroud. The combination has proven effective in warm-weather driving, with the Mustang maintaining proper operating temperature even on hot summer days.
One of the best additions is Vintage Air, providing working air conditioning, heat, and defrost. The installation was carefully integrated with the Mustangs original-style dashboard controls, helping preserve the vintage appearance of the interior. The A/C blows cold and was demonstrated operating properly in hot weather.
The interior features bucket seats, center console, floor shifter, and a very nice headliner and rear seat. Seat belts are fitted throughout.
A newer vintage-style stereo system has also been installed with upgraded speakers, including Kenwood 6x9s in the rear. The system features USB and auxiliary connectivity. A Garmin navigation unit is also included.
For improved visibility, the exterior mirrors were replaced with later 1967-style mirrors, while upgraded headlights provide substantially better nighttime illumination than the previous units.
The exterior has a distinctive custom personality with hand-painted pinstriping and scrollwork. Other details include a billet-style fuel cap and upgraded LED taillights.
Out back, the trunk has been neatly carpeted, while staggered tire sizing gives the Mustang a slightly more aggressive stance.

The V8 conversion provides the sound and character enthusiasts expect from a classic Mustang, while the rebuilt transmission, upgraded cooling system, cold Vintage Air, improved lighting, newer tires, and other updates make it much easier to enjoy regularly.
Its not being represented as a numbers-matching or factory V8 example. Instead, its an honest, nicely upgraded 1966 Mustang Coupe with a 289 V8, three pedals, cold A/C, and plenty of classic character.
