1966 Ford Mustang Convertible

The original Mustang is one of the most recognizable classic cars to ever hit the streets and has cemented itself into Americana culture as an icon of the 60s. To this day the Mustang is one of Fords most successful automobiles ever produced and is loved by owners and fans all over the world.

We are excited to represent this particular 1966 model year Mustang Convertible as it has a truly remarkable story and pedigree. This Mustang was built in Dearborn Michigan and delivered new to the Seattle area in March of 1966. The car was then put into the Budget Rent-a-Car fleet on Olive Way in Seattle, WA that April. The current owner purchased the car from Smith-Gandy Ford of Seattle, WA by salesman Woody White on January 28, 1967 and has kept the car in tip top shape ever since! He drove the car daily until around 1975 when it was retired to special occasions only. Today this car has only 67,800 miles and has been maintained and restored as needed over the years. This Mustang is finished in its original color combination of Signalflare Red over Black Rosette Vinyl interior and was equipped with the 289 2V V8 w/200hp combined with the optional C4 Automatic transmission w/ 2:80:1 rear axle. Options fitted include power steering, power soft top, and an AM radio.

This Mustang is a testament to one mans passion and special care that has been given to this car throughout the years, it shows very nice and would be right at home at any car show you take it to or can be used on a regular basis as a fun classic driver. The car has always been garaged and both body and chassis are in excellent condition. The original Black Rosett vinyl upholstery is in very nice preserved condition showing only the slightest patina. The dash pad is crack free, and carpets are in good shape and have black rubber "pony" mats. Everything is in good working condition with all mechanical and electrical functioning as designed. We have just performed a fresh oil service in our shop and a professional alignment with wheel balancing has also been completed. In 2023 the battery was replaced and a new brake master cylinder fitted. In 2022 at 67,509 miles Bel-Kirk Mustang, a well-respected shop here in the Northwest installed a newly rebuilt 289 motor w/ an upgraded cam due to the original motor having a crack in the block. An upgraded Borgeson power steering pump was also fitted as well as a new radiator, electronic ignition, and the transmission was serviced. New BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires were also installed in 2022 along with a new rear plastic window for the soft top. In 2005 at 65,893 miles the rear brakes were redone and the carburetor was rebuilt. In 2001 at 65,771 miles new stainless front disk brakes were fitted as well as an added front sway bar, and rebuilding the AM radio and replacing the dash speaker. The electrical system was also gone through with a new alternator, starter solenoid, and voltage regulator. In 1989 the soft top was replaced and new front springs, shocks, control arms, were also installed. The car also was inspected at Sears with an invoice showing 62,412 miles at the time. In 1988 the car was taken to bare metal and repainted to a high standard and some minor rust repair was performed along with new chrome bumpers being sourced and fitted. In 1978 new tires were fitted at Sears with the receipt showing 20,294 miles at the time. The car still shows very well today since little mileage has been accumulated since then.
