Classic Car Overview

1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop

HAS TITLE

For auction, a 1966 Ford Mustang hardtop with a title verified 62,288 actual miles. While the interior and exterior present in barn find condition, many new mechanical parts have been added to the car making it a project that's partially completed.

Exterior
The Nightmist Blue paint and metal has seen better days, and that was likely a long time ago. There's quite a bit of missing paint and rust in its place along with heavily oxidized and faded paint, more scratches than we could count, and a few dents as well. The chrome bumpers are rust covered and dented, but the window trim, side mirror, and drip rails are in decent shape. We have rust through on the rear fenders, front fenders, doors and in other spots and the once translucent red lenses on the taillight are cloudy and oxidized. Three of the four wheels have proper covers but all four have surface rust and wear newer 185/75/14 tires.

Interior
The Parchment vinyl door inserts may have been surrounded by blue at some point but it's all faded now and the inserts show a good deal of age. The seats do as well with the driver's unit badly ripped and dirty, the passenger seat in a little better shape but torn, and the rear intact but very dirty. The cracked rim of the steering wheel leads to a standard instrument cluster, weathered and worn and there's a gap where the radio would be. In contrast, the dash pad looks to be in good shape. There's no carpet on the floor and the shifter rises from the barren transmission tunnel and there's surface rust both on the floor and the ceiling. There are old and spare parts filling the trunk including the center console and a new ignition cylinder in the column.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 200ci inline six cylinder rated at 120 horsepower and topped by a 1-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a Toploader 3-speed manual transmission that sends power to the Ford 7.25 in back with 3.20 gears. There's a new header on board but that's where the exhaust currently ends. Although the bay is rough, it's equipped with a new carburetor, fuel pump, starter, electronic ignition, aluminum radiator, coil, plugs, rotor, and wires.

Undercarriage
It's fairly rough down here with surface rust and a good bit of invasive stuff too. There's no exhaust system but there is a new gas tank, new drum brakes at all four wheels, and new wheel cylinders. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in back.

Drive-Ability
The car runs and drives but of course, is loud at the moment. Our quick test reveals the heater blower and brake lights are not working. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Here's an opportunity to add a personal touch, and lots of metal work and paint to a classic Mustang. Some of the mechanicals have been sorted, so it's all about cosmetics at this point!
