The consignor purchased the car from the estate of their aunt who purchased the car new in California. The beautiful red paint is believed to be original, and the car includes copious paperwork including original purchase forms, invoices, warranty tags and owners manual.
The red Pony vinyl interior is believed to be original and presents exceptionally well given that. With bucket seats up front and a rear bench, the interior is the perfect blend of 1960s space age - using lots of pieces of brushed and polished metal- along with classic wood grain trim on the steering wheel rim and dashboard.
Under the hood sits Fords famed 289ci V8 in A-Code trim. This means the engine is topped by a 4bbl carburetor and produces a claimed 225 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. From the factory, the A-Code cars were built with 10:1 compression and hydraulic lifters making them one of the highest performing 289s of the era. In this example, it runs through a 3-speed automatic to the rear wheels.
These early Mustangs represent the ultimate in 1960s transportation and remain one of the most sought after classic cars out there.
