Classic Car Overview

1966 Ford Mustang Convertible For consignment, a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible with 23,319 miles on the odometer, but the true miles are unknown. In the past three years, the car has received newer brakes, tires, front end work, interior and instrument cluster. Exterior Silver Blue is the color of choice here and its a good one in two stage shine. The familiar face of this classic features the new grille for 1966 and the horse in the corral above a nicely chromed front bumper that tops a body colored lower fascia. The side cove detail lacks the faux vents and they trail off smoothly transition to the rear fenders. Looking at the back reveals an instantly recognizable tail which cannot be confused for any other classic. Our wheels here are 14-inch wearing proper coverings and spinners while the 195/75R14s around them have a date code of mid 2022. This one wears an ivory canvas soft top with a blue tonneau cover to dress the back when the roof is stowed. Imperfections are few and include an area of missing paint on a rear panel, touched up with a different blue, some blistering on the low end of wheel openings, a touched up chip on a door sill, a scratch under a side emblem, and evident repair work in a door jamb, Interior Vinyl clad door cards contrast dark blue and light blue, and both doors present in great condition. Two tone carries onto the seats where light blue surrounds tuck and roll inserts in darker blue, textured vinyl and none of the seats, including the back bench appear to have any damage or wear whatsoever. The front buckets flank a matching center console with armrest and cupholders, both welcome additions to this classic! A blue 3 spoke steering wheel with horn buttons on each occupies the column which traces down to the elongated oval dash that houses five gauges including the large speedometer front and center, all in very clean condition. Over the top a dark blue dash cover is sculpted around the radio, in this case a modern AM/FM unit witha USB port under the dash, flanked by another corral shaped ring around the glove box. The Mustang T-shifter rises from the transmission tunnel and a nice blue loop carpet covers the floor while a period correct plaid mat covers the sizable trunk and spare tire handsomely. Drivetrain Clean conditions prevail in the bay where we find a 200 ci inline six cylinder rated at 120 horsepower, fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor and mated to a C4 3-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed to the Ford 7.25 in back with 3.20 conventional gears. Undercarriage Generally very clean underneath with some residual oil and minimal surface rust, mostly reserved for the single exhaust that runs through a stock style muffler before terminating behind the rear bumper. We note two areas of rust repair and encapsulation on an underside panel and in a rear wheel well. Power drum brakes are on board and supply each of the four wheels while suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in the rear. Drive-Ability This very clean interior is going to be a pleasure for you, the new owner, to enjoy! And the well running engine and smooth shifting transmission are simply icing on the cake. Our tires provide good handling and we find most functions operating as they should. As noted by our consignor, the windshield washer does not work and we find the reverse lights also inoperable. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Heres a fact, clean 1966 Mustang convertibles are highly sought after favorites. So, to speed things up, well keep this short.
