Overview
I purchased this 1966 Mustang from a customer who had inherited it from a relative in California on July 8, 1999. It was built in San Jose and the actual mileage then was 65513 miles. I am the second owner. I replaced the original 289 engine with a HI-PO 289 engine. This smooth-running engine produces 271 horsepower and transformed the car into a performance machine. The engine swap initiated the need for new Front Coil Springs (much heavier engine) and I replaced the Rear Leaf Springs to improve ride quality. I replaced the C-4 Automatic Transmission with a 1985 Automatic Overdrive Transmission. The AOD was built with a Non-Lock-Up Converter which provides smooth even shifts (no falling off a cliff feeling shifting into over-drive). I had a custom dual exhaust system installed and coupled with the HI-PO exhaust manifolds it has a very pleasant sound. Transmission and Exhaust upgrades also provide decent gas mileage. I upgraded the A/C system with a Sanden A/C Compressor and new Expansion Valve. I also replaced the Heater Coil and Heater Box Assembly which is insulated preventing heat from entering the cabin. I have had the car painted, replaced the door panels, dash pad and head liner. The seats and rear side panels have been professionally reupholstered. I installed the sound system including the Clarion DRZ 9255 Head Unit. This McIntosh made Receiver is considered one of the best ever produced. I installed Dynamat Extreme Sound Deadening Insulation in the trunk, below the carpet and added Black Thermal Under Hood Acoustic Lining which keeps road noise to a minimum. I also installed a barrier between the trunk and cabin. The car is super clean, has always been garage kept, rust-free, well maintained and drives-rides-performs as a modern-day vehicle.
Smoke Free.
