1966 Ford Mustang
Fastback Car for sale by California Classics and Collectibles in Vista, California 92084
Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.
Jim Clarke led the charge with the creation of the 5.0 HO V8 for the Mustang in 1982 and was responsible for the continuous improvement of the 5.0 throughout the '80s. What Jim and his team accomplished is truly amazing.

We bought the car in Aug 2014 because it was an original Raven Black 4 Speed car that had sat in a Warehouse since at least early 1994, and ran well when it was originally parked there and had around 80,000 original miles on it.
When we got it to our shop we fired up the engine, it ran extremely well with great oil pressure and compression, then the car was pretty much completely taken apart, the Engine, Radiator, Transmission, Rear end, Gas tank, all Brakes & Suspension, Bumpers, Lights, Grill, Hood, Front Fenders, Doors, Trunk Lid, all Glass and the Complete Interior were all removed, Car was then sandblasted, front floor pan’s were replaced as well as the rear lower quarter panels and a couple small steel patch panels on the upper rear wheel wells, the outer side portions of the firewall also had some pin holes in it after sandblasting so those areas were cut and welded, (Extremely hard to see that any of the above work was done, all steel and very original looking) Driver’s side door replaced because of some water trapped in bottom of door when put in to storage. After sandblasting and body work, undercarriage was done in AccuMatch Self Etching Red Oxide Primer, And Engine bay was done in AccuMatch OEM Black, Then installed Complete all new suspension, brakes (Disc front), brake lines, E-brake, gas tank, etc. While Engine, Trans, and Rear end were out of car, All were thoroughly inspected and freshened up, Heads were removed, valve job done, new gaskets, seals, Cam, Lifters, Oil Pan, Timing Chain, Gears, Cover & Pointer, Harmonic Balancer, Alt, Harness, Fan, Voltage Regulator, Coil & Bracket, Carb & Intake, Distributor, Fuel Pump, Starter & Solenoid, Clutch Pressure Plates & Throw out bearing, etc, Then all re-installed with all new hardware along with an Aluminum 3 Core Radiator, New Headers and Dual Stainless Steel Exhaust System. Before Primer & paint Hood, Doors, and Deck Lid re-fitted with new Hinges and Hardware, Front and Rear Fenders fitted with new Fender Extensions, along with new Front Shelby Apron & Rear Valance, Then all removed again for paint, Shelby Side Scoops were installed after paint was completed.
Paint was done with PPG Raven Black Base Coat / Clear Coat
Then Fenders, Doors, Deck Lid, New Bumpers, Grill, Lights, Door Handles, Locks, Etc, all installed along with Shelby Rear Quarter Window Kits, New Windshield, Rear Glass & Seals and New Aluminum Trim,
Then New Dash, Wiring, Defroster Duct Kit, Sound Deadener, Carpets, Re-upholstered & Re-foamed Front Seats and Rear Fold Down Seat, all New Interior Panels, Headliner, New 4 Speed Reverse Lock Out Shifter with New Bushings, Etc,
New 15 inch American Racing Torque Thrust D Wheels, and BFG 225/60/15 TA Radials
The final assembly was done in Temecula and Escondido by David Hops and Mark Straka. All the parts listed were installed with all period correct fasteners and hardware.
Under dash components were installed with close attention to make sure the cables for the heater and defroster system work smoothly. New window regulators and door glass were installed and roll up and down like new. The vent windows were taken apart and new seals were installed. All the interior parts were installed with new clips and attention to detail was used to insure an accurate fit for seats, door panels, and carpet. All interior Trim was sanded and repainted and installed with new trim screws. The doors open without any drop and close with a solid feel and sound. The car was aligned and ride height set to give the car a factory GT look and to assure a tight driving car.
