LARRY'S LEGEND LIVES

Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.

Classic Car Overview

The Ford Mustang has always been a great platform for hot rodders to customize and make it their own. Because so many different custom builds are on the market today, finding a first generation that is true to its roots can be a challenge. Thats why we always get excited when we see a quality survivor like this 1966 Mustang come through the doors! This Mustang hasnt ever been fully restored, but it isnt totally original either. Owned by the same gentleman since the mid-1980s, this is a car that has been kept up and maintained throughout the decades. Under the hood is the original 6-cylinder engine, a requisite for a new car when the owner was shopping for a commuter in the 1980s. Far from thirsty, the 6-cylinder is both economic and sufficient power for this fastback. While a V8 would really make this Mustang move, the 6-cylinder is a buzzy little power plant that is more than enough for comfortable cruising. This stallion both looks and acts the part of classic Mustang muscle! The body was repainted in the 1980s when the current owner took possession of the car. This was a high-quality paint job at the time, as it has held up well over the years and still shines beautifully! Even though this car was a daily driver for many years, the paint retains its gloss and can easily be enjoyed as-is. The underside is in great shape considering the age of the car, and while it has seen some small patch panels here and there, there is no indication that this car was ever left for dead. After all, back in the 1980s this was just an affordable used car! This black beauty is an American icon, sure to draw a crowd anywhere you take it. You just cant beat that fastback look! The interior was replaced many years ago with a Pony Package interior from a parts Mustang. Though the interior was black before, the owner had an opportunity to upgrade to the Pony Package and took it. The seat material is original Ford material and the seats have been maintained, not recovered. Much like the exterior, it shows a little age, but is in remarkable condition. The radio is a factory AM unit, and the Pony Package interior is the perfect choice for a fastback. Black on black is an iconic color choice! The folding rear seat has been kept folded down, and for that reason the seat material is in great shape. As a whole, the interior is really stunning and is truly the perfect classic combination with the deep black exterior. This Mustang is really dialed in! This is a pony car lovers dream come true, turn-key and ready to go. Whether youre looking for a classic weekend cruiser, or the perfect candidate for a V8 swap, this Mustang surely fits the bill. Please note that this Mustang carries a coupe VIN. This is the VIN stamped under the hood on the drivers side fender apron. To our knowledge and the owners, this car has never been a coupe. This car was purchased in 1984 by the current owner, and it was a fastback at that time. We encourage pre-purchase inspections.
