1966 Ford Mustang Fastback
Fastback Car for sale in Gold Hill, North Carolina 28071
Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.
Jim Clarke led the charge with the creation of the 5.0 HO V8 for the Mustang in 1982 and was responsible for the continuous improvement of the 5.0 throughout the '80s. What Jim and his team accomplished is truly amazing.
Classic Car Overview
This 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback had a complete ground up restoration, body, interior & mechanical, done before I purchased it. It is a California car where it spent most of its life. VIN 6R09C108732. The VIN decodes as built in Los Angeles on September 16, 1966, an original black car with red interior, axle code 2:83, open diff., 289 V-8. The floors & torque boxes are original. The rest of the sheet metal body appears original. Born as a “C” code, it now has an original Ford 4-barrel intake & Holley carb with an electric choke. The car starts, runs & performs much better than the 2-barrel set-up which will come with the car. I installed a larger radiator, de-clutching fan & shroud. The car doesn't run hot or overheat even with the A/C on in our Carolina summers. I also installed a front GT sway bar & KYB shocks. The car handles & rides well. Everything works on the car except for the radio. It turns on, but no sound. The car has disc brakes, but no power brakes. It has power steering. I installed dual exhaust with mufflers which makes it sound great. This car is fun to drive, has a great color combination, black with red interior, & always draws a crowd at car shows & thumbs up when driving. The radial Cooker Radial Redline tires are in great shape & make for a pleasant driving experience. I just did a complete rebuild of the rear brakes, wheel cylinders, shoes, hardware & hoses. I did the front disc brakes earlier. The car has always been stored in a climate controlled shop. The odometer shows 10,000 miles. It showed 5,600 miles when I purchased it. There is no rust on the car or signs of repair. It's time for someone else to own this Pony. Contact Steve at 704-636-9229 (home) or 763-213-6814 (cell). $49,500.
