Given that the 21st century has seen a sort of return to the roots aspect for the Mustang, it was probably only a matter of time before the Boss 302 made a return. Over the last few years there's been steady and growing interest in the concept of a new-age Trans Am Special.

Classic Car Overview

A 1966 Ford Mustang convertible is truly a rolling icon. But as you dig deeper to discover the long-term ownership, cool color combo, all the original touches, and the big money invested in restoration, and soon you discover a quite memorable V8 pony car. Ivy Green Metallic is this Mustangs original color, and it looks great thanks to a two-year restoration that was completed in 2008 (and only about 9k miles added since then.) Its an awesome color that represented the era with pride as the modern clearcoat gloss radiates a retro style. This sets up for a head-turning appearance because so many of these Mustangs have traded in their roots for wild new colors. But this one goes in the opposite direction, staying true to the original right down to those great wheel covers with the Mustang center cap. In fact, this one really does show that the restoration was a labor of love. This is coming off of long-term ownership (in the same family since 1987) and so they got the details right. Thats why the body lines are so crisp, the brightwork is complete, and even details like the ribbed rocker panels are in place. One of the coolest colors to go with the dark green exterior is the Ivy Gold with white two-tone interior. And because this was given the same high-quality investment as the exterior, it looks nearly as fresh as the day this Mustang left the Metuchen, New Jersey factory. But more than just fantastically presented, you want this because its everything you love about this icon. The premium Pony package on the seats is an icon all on its own. This one has a well-coordinated, right down to the wood rim on the steering wheel that looks great against the paneling on the dash. And the period-correct feeling goes all the way to the AM/FM radio thats still cranking out your favorite driving tunes. Even the trunk looks like a time capsule with the correct mat, spare tire, and instructions pasted inside the hatch. Lift hood for a great surprise. Its a correct C-code 289 cubic-inch V8 that has resisted any shiny add-ons. Instead, this one just has clean and pristine belts, wires, and hoses to go with big blue block (check out the detail work with even the right tag on the battery!) It looks so good everyone will think youve got a true survivor this is even believed to be the original motor. But more than just look good, this V8 has been rebuilt during the restoration to remain an excellent cruiser. In fact, the undercarriage photos show you even more fresh components that keep this feeling good on the road. And you get the best control of it all thanks to the three-speed manual transmission.
