1966 Ford Mustang $21,995

Lithia Springs, GA 289 V8 · 21,455 miles
While some of you might remember when early Mustangs were cheap beaters, your kids will never know that cars like this cool 1966 Ford Mustang GT coupe were anything but cherished heirlooms. Its a real-deal GT with an A-code 289, making it the ideal Mustang for the guy who has perhaps outgrown his urge to make trouble but still wants to look like he could if he wanted to. Code Z Sauterne Gold was this cars original color, but when it was repainted just recently, it got a racy coat of Wimbledon White with black stripes, just for effect. Its not a show car but it sure looks cool and we like the way they took the black vinyl top and added to for a cohesive look. You should also bear in mind the cost of that paint job while looking at the price, too, because this car was put together as someones keeper, not a quick fluff-and-buff to make a buck. Of course, when the paint looks that good, the trim needs to be up to the same levels, so the bumpers wear bright plating, the stainless was polished, and all the little stuff was restored or replaced to make it all look equally sharp. They also added a chin spoiler for a bit of a road race look and it does carry all its proper GT equipment, from the fog lamps up front to the twin trumpet exhaust out back, and its all legit. But as nice as the exterior is, the interior will simply break your heart. Sure, the Pony interior always looks great, but somehow this two-tone black and white combination is especially appealing. The seat covers have that soft shine that only comes from correct materials, and the embossed running ponies on the seatbacks are crisp and vivid, the sign of the high-dollar stuff, not the cheap covers. A center console is a great addition to any Mustang, as is the quick-shifting automatic transmission thats always ready to rock. The gauges are original and still in nice shape, framed by the wood-rimmed steering wheel and woodgrained instrument panel, indicative of the upscale Deluxe Interior. An AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit lives in the center of the dash, and the under-dash A/C unit has been there since 1966 (needs to be serviced). As a bonus, the trunk is full of spare parts, including a second set of wheels. The engine is a correct A-code 289 cubic inch V8, fully restored and highly detailed. Dominated by the A/C compressor and chrome air cleaner, the snarky small block sounds awesome and moves the coupe with authority. Ford Blue paint looks great accented by chrome valve covers, and the satin black inner fenders are in awesome condition. Theres also a massive aluminum radiator up front with an electric fan to keep things cool. Of note, this car also carries optional power steering and front disc brakes, which were standard on the GT, making it the kind of car that youll appreciate most after a long day and the drive home is something to savor. The C4 3-speed automatic transmission shifts cleanly and the 8-inch rear has 3.00 gears for easy cruising. And its so clean that theres still factory red oxide primer on the floors. A recent dual exhaust system with resonators sounds great and it wears chrome wheels with spinners and 195/70/14 blackwall radials. Nicely finished, this aggressive Mustang GT covers all the bases: fast, comfortable, stylish, and extremely entertaining. Call today!
