For consignment, this Ford classic in Fairlane 500 GT form. Despite what the year says, parts are from a 67, (grille, headlight bezels and buckets, and taillights) so it appears as a 1967. The mill has been changed to a 302ci stroked out to a 347ci and many other performance goodies. So we could call it a retro restoration-mod showing in Go Mango Chrysler which is close to Ford Emberglow, giving me that warm and fuzzy feeling about this consignment. Exterior The electric shaver type styled grille is flanked by stacked dual headlights, and a shiny bumper framing the car below. Go Mango, as our consignor calls it, paint covers all the steel panels which none are showing any rust problems and are all original to the car and straight with well minded gaps. A black trim decal stripe is just above the rockers on the sides, and on the back, more stacked square chrome beveled tail lights are on each corner with another shiny bumper and dual exhaust to either side quarter. Badging is correct for a GT, and the hood is a 67 version with the dual domes in black flanking either side of the center of said hood. Roofline is very nicely done as it drifts gently downward towards the trunk deck. and sports a large rear curved glass. 15 inch polished edged and black spoked Torque Thrust wheels are on and the rear tires are just a bit bigger than the fronts weighing in at 235/70R15s vs 215/60R15s in front. Interior A swing of either of the two doors and we see nice black vinyl panels which utilize the vinyl with tuck and roll for the top and bottom, and a central rectangular horizontal panel which is framed in thin chrome having residence for the arm rest, and door actuator. Seating is a pair of low back buckets in front and a full on rear bench, both sporting black smooth vinyl bolsters and some square stitching on top with tuck and roll for the lower backs and seats of the buckets and rear bench. Racing rearward is a center console, which houses the T shifter which is within a satin aluminum panel on the top with chromed edging. This unit also includes a storage area behind the shift lever panel. The dash retains its originality, and shows in black dash top, satin aluminum appliqu with more highlighting aluminum around the gauges and the dash front in the Mango. A wood rimmed steering wheel is fronting the dash and has three drilled spokes and a nifty Fairlane red white and blue central badge. Hanging just below the dash in the center above the shifter is a trio of black faced aftermarket gauges to help monitor the pulse of the mill. A trim strip runs the width and is on the bottom of the dash also in satin aluminum. Black carpeting floods the floors and above a black broadcloth headliner showing just a few wrinkles at the seams. Drivetrain In a very detailed and clean engine bay sits a 302ci bored to a 347ci stroker V8. There is an Edelbrock intake, and Edelbrock 650cfm 4-barrel carb. There are GT-40 heads. On back is a 3 speed automatic which is a C4, and it has a 2800rpm stall converter with a shift kit. Inside is a mild performance cam. The exhale is aided courtesy tubular steel headers and a Turbo muffler on either side. On the back, the rear axle weighs in as a Ford 9 inch 3.50 Equilock version. Undercarriage Showing in black straight steel very minor surface rust is noted but is all unremarkable as to structural quality and integrity on this car. A X-pipe dual exhaust is on, as well as independent coil springs in front, and leaf springs for the back. Disc brakes are seen on front and drums for the back. All is very nicely restored underneath this car. Drive-Ability A quick starter and nice driver for the cruise or you can get pushy with the accelerator in and have a little excitement. A good well proportioned interior in its original black vinyl and aluminum trim glory, original dash. A fine test drive was had by me and my cohort who generally can find something to complain about, and actually did with a clunk in the drivetrain when the transmission downshifts. Also the horn was inoperable. A fine example from 1966, and with all the trappings of a 67 GT500. A mild performance build with nice wheels and a beauty of an interior. Love the color and the 66 to 67 conversion is seamless. 6K40S210867 6-1966 K-Kansas City, KS Assy Plant 40-Fairlane 500 GT, Bucket Seats S-390ci V8 4bbl 210867-Sequential Unit Number WARRANTY TAG BODY 63D-Fairlane 500 GT 2 Door Hardtop COLOR V-Emberglow TRIM 86-Black Vinyl Buckets DATE 07F-June 7th Build DSO 50-Kansas City AXLE 5-Ford 9 3.50 Conventional TRANS 5-4 Speed Manual
