Classic Car Overview

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION at RM Sothebys Arizona event, 23 January 2026.
$225,000 - $275,000 USD

  • Stylish and powerful; the best of mid-century Italian grand touring
  • One of approximately 424 left-hand-drive Series II examples
  • Sold new to Italy, optioned with factory air conditioning
  • Numbers-matching 4.0-liter V-12 engine
  • Currently red over black; factory livery of Verde Scuro (19394 It.) over Pelle Beige Scuro leather (VM 846)

The Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 marked a significant stylistic and mechanical evolution from the 250 GTE and the interim 330 America. Designed and built by Pininfarina, the Series I debuted in early 1964 with distinctive four-headlamp styling an arrangement echoing the 400 Superamerica Superfast IV and period American design trends. Its smoother, more rounded body featured a larger trunk, new rectangular taillights, and a slightly longer wheelbase.

Underpinning the new model was Ferraris tubular steel chassis carrying independent front suspension, telescopic dampers, and four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes with dual hydraulic circuits. Midway through 1965, the second-generation Series II arrived, most notably abandoning the quad-lamp design in favor of a cleaner dual-headlight layout reminiscent of the 275 GTS, while mechanical updates included replacing the earlier overdrive four-speed gearbox with a five-speed. Throughout production, the 330 GT 2+2 embodied Ferraris growing focus on refined, high-speed touring, with the model recognized today as a pivotal link between the classic 250 series and the more contemporary grand tourers that followed.

Completed 20 January 1966, this Series II left Maranello finished in Verde Scuro (19394 It.) over Pelle Beige Scuro leather trim (VM 846), complemented by factory air conditioning, headrests, seat belts, and cloth seat inserts. The dark beige interior would have beautifully complemented the deep green exterior, creating an elegant and highly fashionable color combination. Originally sold in Milan, this Italian home-market example remained there for several years before being imported to the United States in the 1970s. According to the Ferrari 330 GT Registry, chassis 8207 subsequently passed through several Ferrari enthusiasts in the Eastern United States before being exported to Japan in the early 1990s.

Importantly, the car is fitted with its numbers-matching 4.0-liter V-12 engine. A model celebrated for its grand touring prowess, this 330 GT 2+2 Series II offers an intriguing decision: experience its timeless Italian elegance and potent V-12 performance as is or embark on a return to its original mid-century splendor in either case, it is an opportunity not to be missed.
