1966 Chevrolet Impala

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.
Classic Car Overview
This 1966 Impala SS packs a NOM 427/425 engine ,and it also boasts a Muncie 4-speed transmission. The recipient of a fastidious, frame-off restoration encompassing 10 years, this beautiful example is finished in its correct Regal red exterior color complemented with a black interior. Its also equipped with power steering, bucket seats, console with gauges and a few rarely seen options such as a power drivers seat and a tilt/telescopic steering wheel.
Barely driven since that nut-and-bolt restoration, the SS 427 holds up to the closest scrutiny. Look down the sides of the car and youll see arrow-straight sheet metal as well as even panel gaps and absolutely gleaming chrome and stainless steel trim. The interior looks and feels like youve stepped back into a Chevrolet showroom in 1966 while the engine compartment and underside are so clean you could eat off of them. Everywhere you look its evident that no expense was spared in the restoration. Stainless steel lines and Flowmaster mufflers are the few deviations from a bone stock configuration, while the car looks right sitting on its original wheels with spinner-style wheel covers and Firestone bias-ply Goldline tires. Of course, this beautiful example of mid- 60s muscle rumbles, runs and drives every bit as good as it looks.
Exceptional Impala SSs like this dont come around too often, and this impressive example is priced to move as weve seen comparable cars selling for $10,000 to $15,000 more. As such, dont hesitate on this one if youve been looking for an almost-too-nice-to-drive 1966 Impala SS 427 in the potent 425-horse configuration.
