1966 Chevrolet Impala Sedan

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.

Classic Car Overview
1966 Chevrolet Impala Sedan $18,500
1966 Chevy Impala with Big Block 396 - all stock parts, no performance mods. This red sedan with white vinyl top is VERY CLEAN and has been garage kept. The brighter the sun, the deeper the red color shines. No body rust or bondo anywhere, and the interior is in immaculate original condition. The inside of the trunk has some surface rust spots but that's it. I bought the car in this condition in 2009 but the prior owner had no history to share with me. The rear passenger door hinges show a blue color so it's clear that it was replaced at some point in its past history. The odometer read 71,000 miles when I bought the car, but the 396 V8 (325hp) clearly needed attention so I pulled and rebuilt it in my garage. A local machine shop replaced the rings, bearings, valves for me. I also pulled the stock Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission and had it completely rebuilt (and painted) by a local transmission shop that specializes in the classics. Throughout the rebuild project I focused on retaining original parts so even the Rochester 4-barrel Quadrajet carb and the original alternator have been completely rebuilt. An all new dual exhaust gives it a rumble, and I just installed a new brake master cylinder. It runs very well but I'm still playing with the float/mixture on the carb to smooth it out. As of May 2018 I've driven about 300 miles since the rebuild was completed in August 2017. I drive it for fun on nice weather days. The suspension is fine for me as-is but someone else may choose to change it out since it has not been touched.
