Classic Car Overview
1966 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible For consignment, a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, 36 years owned by our consignor with a title verified 44,102 actual miles and a numbers matching motor. Its been well maintained and what wasnt restored, was replaced with N.O.S. OEM parts. Exterior Gleaming like a beacon, the Rally Red shines bright, and who doesnt love a red Corvette? Described as a Coke bottle on wheels, the C2 Vettes have lovely rising and slightly flared fenders and the fronts are bisected by the spear shaped hood bulge while the rear fenders flank a raised center line, elongated when the top is down. This Vette is quite a show, and the supporting players include the hidden headlights, the triple slotted fender vents, and the quad tail lights. The metal work is in great condition here and much of it has been replated, while 15-inc knock-offs wheels with goldline tires are the perfect complement to the red body. The newer white canvas top is in great shape and the rear window lacks hazing. Imperfections include a touched up scratch, touched up rock chips, and a bit of uneven filler. Interior Double window cranks highlight the black formed door panels with the costar being the knob topped door actuator. Low back bucket seats wear Al Knoch Interiors black leather covers and show minimal wear and are backed by a black back shell with polished trim. The black interior is interrupted by the lovely teakwood steering wheel, then a return to black with the instrument panel with black faced gauges and an arching display of six dials with critical information for the driver, all in good condition. The center stack consists of a clock, vent control knobs, radio knobs, and the vertically mounted AM/FM radio. This thin stack allows for plenty of legroom for the occupants where they can stretch their feet on the black loop carpet covering the footwells and the rear cargo area. The chrome shifter and black textured surround in the center console is immaculate. Drivetrain Under the reverse opening hood we find a very clean, numbers matching 327ci L79 V8 power plant, fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor and rated at 350 horsepower. According to our consignor, the engine has been completely rebuilt and also shows a restamped VIN. The engine itself is spotless and show worthy, clean and original looking. The 1967 Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission behind it sends power to a date correct 3.36 rear with Positraction. Disc brakes are equipped on the front and rear and those brakes have stainless steel sleeved calipers, per our consignor. Undercarriage More evidence of a pampered existence, the underside is super clean and dry and barely shows signs of being driven, let alone being old! Dual exhaust makes an immediate beeline outward to become side pipes and are covered on the exterior by a vented and polished dress piece. Suspension consists of coil springs in front and in back, Corvettes complex system of a frame mounted differential, tubular axle drive shafts, transverse strut rods, torque control arms, and transverse leaf springs. Drive-Ability This is a clean and tidy interior which, with the top down, provides it endless visibility and fun. The 327 cuber cranks to life with a sweet side rumble and rolls onto the test loop in style. There is power on tap and the car tracks straight and handles well, braking is great and downshifts help slow the roll. Attention to care and maintenance pays off again as all available functions work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
