Classic Car Overview

1966 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible $73,500

White · 8 Cylinder · 49,800 miles

66 Corvette Roadster, an original Ermine White car (repainted with seven coats of Ermine White lacquer paint, just like it rolled off the line in St. Louis), black soft top, white hard top, leather seats, power windows, telescopic steering column, teak wood wheel, power steering, power brakes, original tinted windshield, AM FM Delco radio, traffic hazard warning, L72 Special High Performance Big Block car from factory (original block replaced early in the life of the car), close ratio 4 speed, posi-traction rear (3.70:1), original side pipe car, early 66 model built in Sept. 65, no.1719, frame up restoration completed in June, 2012.

Have a photo of the original invoice from Grabiak Chevrolet ( McKeesport, Pa) when the car was sold in 1966. This Ermine White car came from the factory with the following options----427 425/450 hp, PS, PB, power windows, black leather, tinted glass,  M21 close ratio 4 speed, side exhaust, and hazard warning system.  I have over 30 pages of documentation on the professional engine/transmission rebuild and the parts and services procured during the three year frame up restoration. Casting numbers and date codes are available on the rare "961"early 66 Corvette replacement block, the original vintage rectangular port heads, the aluminum intake, and the M21 vintage transmission. GM used two big block castings in 1966-----3855961 and 3869942.  Casting 3855961 was used in some very early 1966 big block corvettes (the corvette in this ad rolled off the line in September, 1965, number 1719) and this corvette's replacement block is the "961" casting,  creating a very early 66 with a rare period block!! Check out the Corvette statistics on the following web site: www.rowleycorvette.com/stats66.html.

Hemmings Motors/Hagerty, in their Price Valuation Model,  add $14,000 to their base price of a 1966 L72 big block Corvette to reflect the rare combination of factory options on this car. Refer to www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1966-Chevrolet-Corvette?id=40695 and click on value adjustments.

Lock at the video and listen to the solid lifter big block with a high lift cam (equivalent to the L88 factory cam). Engine rebuilt as closely as possible to original factory specs with forged domed pistons and a new crank. The vintage big block mark IV heads were completely reconditioned including a competition valve job. The sound of the big block engine will get everyone's attention, and you will think it is the 60's again when you could fill your muscle car up with Sunoco 260 Blend!
