Cool Classics: Chevrolet Chevelle

Chevrolet introduced the Chevelle in 1963 as a 1964 model. Though quite large by today's standards, it was classified as a midsize car. What wasn't midsize was the level of passion garnered from the very beginning, a passion that has continued for decades.

Classic Car Overview

INTRODUCTION: Real Super Sport and numbers matching! This authentic Chevelle has enjoyed an exceptional history, having lived in the same town its entire life with only three owners from new, including one enthusiast who cherished it for 34 years. Restored in 2008, it has been meticulously maintained ever since. Most recently, over 300 hours were invested in detailing, sorting, and fine tuning every aspect of the car, bringing it to an outstanding level of presentation.

EXTERIOR: The Marina Blue finish on this Chevelle looks better today than when it left the factory. Painted nearly 20 years ago, the finish has recently been professionally wet sanded and polished by a restoration shop, giving it an incredible glass smooth, mirror like shine. More importantly, this paint has already stood the test of time and continues to present beautifully, proving the quality of the restoration. The car retains its original body panels, which are straight, rust free, and fit exceptionally well. Refinished in its factory correct Marina Blue, the metallic is laid out evenly and has a deep, glossy finish that reflects like a mirror. The chrome and brightwork are all in great condition and sparkle against the blue paint. It is equipped with dual bowtie mirrors and a rear mounted antenna. Completing the classic Super Sport appearance is a set of rally wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich redline radial tires. The white convertible top is in excellent shape and provides a striking contrast to the Marina Blue exterior.

INTERIOR: I love the blue interior paired with the Marina Blue exterior- it creates a classic and very desirable color combination. Inside is exceptionally tidy and authentic throughout. The seats have excellent cushions and are upholstered beautifully. Fresh blue carpet covers the floor and is protected by Chevelle floor mats. The center console features the optional clock along with the chrome 4-speed shifter, a focal point of the interior. The entire dash area is clean and well preserved, complete with the factory radio still in place. The door panels look fresh, the stock steering wheel is in excellent condition, and the chrome dash bezels are bright and shiny. It is also equipped with optional seat belts front and rear so its ready to enjoy with the family.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Very freshly detailed and factory correct throughout, including its original #s matching 396 big block rated at 325 horsepower. The engine was professionally rebuilt with documentation and is dressed exactly as Chevrolet intended, right down to the stock manifolds, valve covers, air cleaner, carburetor, and reproduction spark plug wires. A fresh coat of Chevy Orange highlights the meticulous presentation. The engine bay is exceptionally clean with proper reproduction hoses, spring clamp battery cables, and a beautifully restored cadmium plated power brake booster. The original cowl tag remains in place, further supporting the cars authenticity.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are finished as nicely as the exterior, wearing a smooth, glossy paint finish. Inside, the metal is exceptionally clean and protected with a neatly applied factory style spatter finish. It features a reproduction trunk mat, fresh weatherstrip, and a complete spare tire and jack assembly, all detailed and properly in place. The overall presentation is clean and authentic.

UNDERSIDE: This is where countless hours were invested taking it from merely clean to absolutely magnificent. The attention to detail is exceptional! The floors are pristine original metal finished in gloss black, along with the chassis and suspension components. The steering and suspension systems have been thoroughly serviced, while the brake and fuel lines have been replaced. Even the parking brake system has been renewed with new cables. A dual exhaust system with FlowPro mufflers provides a great sound while maintaining a clean appearance. Looking up at the drivetrain, everything is spotless. The engine is detailed correctly, including the proper canister style oil filter and factory style starter. The original 4-speed transmission was rebuilt with new synchros, the driveshaft has been restored, and power is sent back through the original rear end with 3.31 gears. Its the little details that really stand out, right down to the assembly line tags, demonstrating the level of care and authenticity throughout the restoration.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected, test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for sale.

CONCLUSION: Finished in its beautiful factory Marina Blue color combination and equipped with its #s-matching drivetrain, this is the kind of honest, well documented muscle car that is becoming increasingly difficult to find!
